Autumn 2026
Autumn arrives at a point of perfect balance. On the 22nd of September, the Sun exits Virgo and enters the Cardinal Air Sign of Libra [8:05 PM EDT], marking the Autumn Equinox, that brief and symbolic moment when daylight and darkness stand nearly equal before the scales gradually tip toward the longer nights of the season ahead. Nature itself seems to pause upon the threshold. Summer’s abundance has not entirely disappeared, yet the light has changed. Shadows lengthen. The air carries the first subtle intimations of retreat. What has flourished must now be gathered, evaluated, and distilled to its essence.
The symbolism could hardly be more appropriate for these volatile times. Libra seeks equilibrium, yet true balance is not a static condition. It is the continual adjustment of the tightrope walker, responding to every shift of weight and every unexpected gust of wind. And perhaps that is the greater lesson of Autumn 2026. We are learning to remain centered not by becoming rigid, but by becoming increasingly responsive to circumstances whose rhythms are changing more rapidly than we have previously known.
Yet this is no ordinary Equinox. We enter the Autumn Season with the Sun immediately engaging the transcendental planets. The Sun triggers an Air Grand Trine with the Sun trine Pluto in Aquarius and the Sun trine Uranus in Gemini, while the Sun opposes Neptune in Aries. The personal and the transpersonal meet at the doorway of the season, suggesting that the changes occurring around us are not merely events to be observed from a distance. They are touching the very essence of who we are and who we are becoming.
This configuration has occurred twice before during the preceding five weeks — first with Venus in mid-August and then with Mercury during the second week of September. Now the Sun takes its turn as the trigger. What may initially have appeared as an interesting possibility, an intuitive impression, an intriguing relationship, or a new idea begins to penetrate more deeply. Possibility becomes personal. The theoretical becomes experiential. We are no longer merely witnessing transformation; increasingly, we are becoming the transformation ourselves.
We may bear witness to ourselves and other people changing as though passing through an alchemical process of heightened awareness and raised consciousness. The base metal is being transmuted. Old definitions lose their authority. Roles that once seemed central to our identity may feel strangely restrictive. Matters we once considered important may suddenly seem irrelevant, while subjects previously dismissed as intangible, impractical, or even impossible begin to assume greater significance.
Such is the nature of a paradigm shift. We do not simply exchange one set of circumstances for another; we alter the framework through which circumstances themselves are perceived. The familiar measurements no longer provide reliable readings. The maps that brought us this far may not describe the territory ahead.
Increasingly, we may become less concerned with the hurly-burly of the mundane world and more aware of dimensional changes we are likely experiencing. This does not mean abandoning practical responsibilities or floating away into some ethereal realm. On the contrary, the challenge is to remain fully engaged in ordinary life while recognizing that extraordinary changes are occurring beneath its surface.
Transformation, however, rarely provides us with an itinerary.
The latter part of September may therefore seem confusing at times, especially around the 25th when the Sun opposes Neptune. We might question who we are, who we are becoming, and how the people with whom we are relating are changing as well. Relationships that once seemed clearly defined may become less certain. Goals we once pursued without hesitation could lose some of their appeal. We may find ourselves standing between identities — no longer entirely the person we were, not yet fully the person we are becoming.
The outlines are blurred.
Yet confusion need not be viewed as a negative condition. I would suggest that confusion is often the starting point of wisdom. When we are confused, we cannot rely automatically upon the so-called tried and true. We cannot evaluate every new situation solely according to previous experience. The old labels fail us, and for a moment we become an empty vessel.
And an empty vessel can be filled with something new.
Neptune may dissolve our certainty, but certainty is not always synonymous with truth. Many of our certainties are merely assumptions hardened through repetition. By loosening them, Neptune gives us an opportunity to perceive without immediately filtering every experience through what we already believe.
Despite whatever questioning we may incur, the Sun trine Pluto on the 26th bolsters the essence of our being with a recognition that the way forward is our own individual journey toward realizing our personal destiny. Pluto strips away what is superficial and asks us to recognize what remains when the unnecessary has fallen aside. There can be enormous strength in such simplicity.
This same day has the Aries Full Moon, the Sun Moon opposition [12:49 PM EDT], with the Moon sandwiched between Neptune and Saturn. The configuration suggests — perhaps even demands — that we avoid falling into a self-absorbed, narcissistic attitude and instead remain open to the magic and mystery of these times of paradigm shift.
We do not know everything.
We are not supposed to.
There are periods when the wisest response is not to control the unfolding but to participate attentively in it. Just as the twelve-step programs suggest “let go, let God,” we too may need to avoid getting in our own way — insisting upon what we think we want, demanding that events unfold according to our schedule, or assuming that we are in control of every situation.
We are not.
But neither are we powerless.
We are co-creators with the universe unfolding, and there is an enormous difference between co-creation and control. Control assumes that we know exactly how the story should unfold. Co-creation allows us to bring our intentions, abilities, desires, and free will into partnership with forces far larger than ourselves. One tightens the grip; the other opens the hand.
Mars exiting Cancer and entering Leo on the 27th [10:49 PM EDT] provides a thrust toward self-actualization. Coming off the third decanate of Cancer [Pisces], we may become less inclined to play the victim card and increasingly willing to participate actively in our own development.
There is a shift from why is this happening to me? toward what am I going to do with what is happening?
Mars in Leo restores fire, confidence, courage, and creative self-expression. We may feel more willing to step onto the stage of our own lives rather than watch events from the wings. Transformation continues, but we become more willing participants in the process.
The 28th of September has the Sun completing the Air Grand Trine with the Sun trine Uranus.
Serendipity and synchronicity are at play.
Unexpected situations can alter our trajectory, change our direction, and free us from ties that bind. A seeming detour might turn out to be the better route. A chance encounter could have lasting implications. Something that initially appears disruptive may prove liberating.
This is where asequential reality can become especially evident. We may discover that the universe operates less like a railroad track and more like a field of possibilities. Events intersect unexpectedly. Opportunities arrive from directions we had never considered. Answers may appear before we have fully formulated the questions.
The important thing is to remain awake.
If we are determined that the answer must arrive through Door A, we may completely overlook the fact that Door Q has suddenly swung wide open.
And so September closes by taking us deeper still.
On the 30th, Mercury exits Libra and enters Scorpio [7:44 AM EDT]. Our mind becomes sharp, forensic-like, and focused upon the essential. We are less interested in the superfluous or shallow. After a month filled with revelations, questions, recalibrations, and unexpected turns, we want to understand what lies at the core.
We are on a quest of self-discovery, ascension in consciousness, and transmutation. We can certainly welcome fellow travelers along the journey. Some may walk beside us for years; others for only a few steps. But not everyone can come along, nor should they.
The path remains an individual one.
September began by asking us to find the middle ground between limitation and possibility, caution and confidence. It ends by reminding us that balance does not mean standing still. Balance allows movement. Like the tightrope walker continually adjusting to every subtle shift, we remain centered not by becoming rigid but by responding intelligently to changing conditions.
As October begins, the Air Grand Trine remains a powerful undertone, with the Libra Sun still in orb of a trine to Uranus in Gemini and a trine to Pluto in Aquarius. The alchemical process of transformation remains engaged, particularly in our sense of self and our personal lives. Autumn’s leaves have not yet fully turned, but already the season seems intent upon showing us that change can be beautiful precisely because it is change.
The energetic environment, however, shifts dramatically from the 2nd through the 4th.
Scorpio Mercury on the 2nd triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with Mercury square Mars in Leo and square Pluto in Aquarius, tempered by Mars trine Neptune. Mars opposes Pluto on the 3rd, the same day that Venus turns retrograde [3:16 AM EDT] in Scorpio, a Sign of Detriment for Venus. And the 4th has the Sun opposed Saturn.
These three days are dicey, to say the least.
Fixed Sign configurations can be extraordinarily determined, but determination can easily become obstinacy. Positions harden. Discussions can turn into heated arguments, and heated arguments can escalate further if people are unwilling to back away. Pent-up energies are liable to be released with vehement explosions. Relationships can suffer through ill-thought words and knee-jerk reactions, leaving us by Sunday the 4th exhausted, defeated, or surveying what feels like a wasteland after the storm has passed.
It is essential during these three days to avoid unnecessary confrontations and to recognize how quickly the emotional temperature can change. A seemingly pleasant situation could move rapidly from close to idyllic to something far less agreeable. People may be carrying pressures invisible to us, and one careless word could strike a nerve we did not even know was exposed.
If there is a saving grace to this three-day period, it is Mars trine Neptune. Rather than becoming embroiled in the hurly-burly, we can redirect our energy toward creative projects, spiritual practice, or work that gives meaningful expression to our passions. Instead of joining the battle, we might choose to paint, write, design, build, pray, meditate, walk by the water, or simply remove ourselves from the noise.
There are times when disengagement is not avoidance but wisdom.
Let us keep in mind that our life journey is a personal one, with pathways individual to our unique destiny. We do not have to participate in every argument to which we are invited.
The heat can turn down during the second week of October.
The 6th has Mercury conjunct Venus. After the liability of feeling kicked around over the previous few days, we might use this time to consider what is truly meaningful. What do we value? Whom do we value? What deserves our energy, and what has merely been consuming it?
Even if we believe we do not have the resources to pull off our greatest endeavors, hopefully we have already seen glimmers of magic whereby we recognize that things can happen in the most unusual manner. As the saying goes, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
We need only acknowledge the strength of our will while remembering that we are not the sole arbiters of our life’s unfolding. The universe is our partner in co-creating our realities.
If we reflect upon our circumstances and consider our options, we can put spirit into action on the 7th when Mars sextiles Uranus. We may take a different direction or utilize different means, but a sense of forging ahead can propel us toward embracing our dreams. Goals that appeared unrealistic might become realizable once we stop insisting upon a single method of accomplishing them.
Some way, somehow.
That phrase might serve us well during this season. We do not always need to know the how before committing to the what. Intention can precede methodology. The destination can be chosen before every turn in the road has been mapped.
The Libra New Moon on the 10th, when the Sun conjuncts the Moon [11:50 AM EDT], impacts not only the new two weeks up to the Full Moon on the 25th but serves as the signature of this autumn season, being the first New Moon after the Sun’s ingress into Libra.
The Libra New Moon in the second decanate [Aquarius] of the Cardinal Air Sign speaks to our future and what we intend to do over the years ahead. This is not merely a lunation concerned with immediate gratification. Its Aquarian undertone stretches our vision beyond today, encouraging us to consider the person we are becoming and the world in which that future self will live.
This New Moon is in orb of a sextile to Jupiter in Leo. The 10th also has Venus square Mars.
Relationships are important, but we are likely becoming more selective regarding with whom we choose to do the dance. We have changed, and consequently our personal interests may also have changed. Some people with whom we have been connected might leave our lives as we become highly selective about those with whom we wish to engage.
We do not merely want “yes” people surrounding us. Genuine friends occasionally challenge us, question us, and provide perspectives different from our own. But neither do we want people constantly throwing monkey wrenches into the spokes of our wheels, discouraging every aspiration before it has even had a chance to breathe.
There is a distinction between constructive criticism and habitual negativity.
This New Moon gives us a thrust to adopt the sentiment: “there’s no stopping us now.”
Stepping on the brakes, however, may occasionally be necessary to calm our buoyancy and good feelings when the Sun exactly sextiles Jupiter on the 15th, the same day that Pluto ends its five-month retrograde cycle and turns direct [10:41 PM EDT].
Whenever Pluto changes direction, whether from direct to retrograde or from retrograde to direct, things can seem explosive. Whatever has been percolating below the surface may rise with dramatic release. In astrological symbolism, this can correspond with intensified collective events, including powerful social disruptions, geophysical phenomena, or intense atmospheric storm systems. On the personal level, buried feelings or long-suppressed issues may likewise demand attention.
With the Sun Jupiter configuration occurring at the same time as Pluto turning direct, we need to be wary of overreach and extreme behaviors. Confidence is valuable; invincibility is an illusion.
The turbulence of these volatile times over the past few years has taught many of us how to surf the waves and avoid the body slams. Those who have learned to deal successfully with the whipsaws can utilize the mid-October period to get rid of the extraneous and focus upon the essential, all the while maintaining a balancing act between wild energy fluctuations and dramatic mood swings.
Although the 15th of October could prove highly intense, the 16th with Mars trine Saturn provides an opportunity to develop the necessary structures and methods by which we can effectively advance our ambitions. Inspiration needs a container. Enthusiasm needs a plan. Self-expression becomes most powerful when directed toward endeavors that possess true purpose and meaning.
The challenge during mid-October is not to become carried away with ourselves. Narcissism and self-importance could prove our undoing, especially during a paradigm shift that calls for — even demands — authenticity and integrity. The changing energies have little tolerance for pretense. What is hollow may still make considerable noise, but eventually the emptiness becomes obvious.
To disregard authenticity or integrity can set us up for a nasty fall and significant pushback.
Such an instance might occur with Venus square Pluto on the 20th of October. Pluto has only recently turned direct, while Venus is retrograde and moving back through Scorpio, a Sign of Detriment for Venus.
Relationships can be dicey, even to the point of breakups or endings. This would be a time to be gentle in our interactions with other people. Self-aggrandizement will not cut it and could instead be what cuts the relationship. People may be adamant in their positions, highly possessive, jealous, or self-protective.
We would do well to remember that these transformative times are not easy for everyone. Some people feel as though the rug is being pulled out from beneath them. Others become frustrated that not everyone is on board with dramatic transitions. Still others desperately try to preserve a world that feels increasingly difficult to maintain.
Compassion does not require agreement. We can understand another person’s fear without adopting it as our own.
The sense of intensity increases with the Sun exiting Libra and entering Scorpio on the 23rd [5:38 AM EDT]. There is a brief Stellium in the Fixed Water Sign as the Sun joins Mercury and Venus in Scorpio. By Sign, we have a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Scorpio planets square Pluto in Aquarius and square Mars and Jupiter both in Leo.
We may feel blocked in moving forward. We might have the sense that we do not possess the resources to do what we want to do, much less the resources to cover our basic needs.
The missing Element is the Fixed Earth of Taurus.
Perhaps the sense of security we crave cannot be found entirely in worldly goods. Security based solely upon external conditions becomes increasingly fragile during periods when those conditions themselves are changing. More enduring security may arise from the inner strength we have developed through the intense volatilities of recent times — the knowledge that we have faced difficult conditions before, adapted, and found our way through.
The 24th of October has Mercury turning retrograde, with its retrograde cycle continuing until November 13th and incorporating the U.S. midterm elections.
And we know what that means.
Murphy’s Law of “whatever can go wrong could go wrong” is back in effect. During this three-week cycle it would be wise, where possible, to avoid significant decisions or major purchases. Things initiated during Mercury retrograde often require revision or may not work out quite as intended.
With Mercury retrograde backing through Scorpio, the question of whether we have enough may become amplified. Affordability in an entitled society is paradoxical when we consider that present-day “needs” seem to include streaming services, DoorDash, destination weddings, pricey sneakers, and countless conveniences earlier generations would have considered luxuries.
The “must haves” of contemporary society can appear exaggerated, grandiose, and far beyond essential necessities.
Perhaps Mercury retrograde in Scorpio provides an opportunity to distinguish wants from needs, value from price, and genuine abundance from conspicuous consumption. Scorpio is concerned with resources — our own and those we share with others — and retrograde Mercury can encourage an audit of what we spend, what we owe, what we value, and what we can release.
Venus retrogrades back into its own Sign of Libra and out of Scorpio, a Sign of its Detriment. The Scorpio Stellium ends, relationships can improve, and we may temper our intensity with increased consideration and willingness for collaboration.
Venus in Libra triggers by Sign the Air Grand Trine we experienced at times in August and September and earlier this month, when Venus, then Mercury, and then the Sun all transited Libra and by Sign were all in trine aspect to both Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius.
Again, the future calls.
The Taurus Full Moon on the 26th, when the Sun opposes the Moon [12:12 AM EDT], is one intense period as the configuration triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with both the Sun and Moon square Pluto in Aquarius.
“Rage against the machine” might be evident at this time, with explosive behavior, shaky equity markets, and intense disruptions possible within the symbolism of the configuration. Fixed energy resists being moved, and Pluto applies pressure until movement becomes unavoidable.
Since a T-Square suggests that we consider the missing fourth Element, in this case Leo, we would be wise to avoid knee-jerk reactions or any sense of powerlessness and instead focus upon how we can use our own skill set to address challenging situations.
This is not the time to play the victim card. It is a time to engage the spiritual warrior or warrioress, dealing with whatever comes our way with the recognition that experience has provided us with skills for resolving issues that once might have overwhelmed us.
As we should remind ourselves, the wise and true saying affirms: “we never get more than we can handle.”
We come to the end of October with Mercury square Mars on the 30th. If we feel put upon or fall into victim mode, we could lash out vehemently at whomever we perceive to be adversarial. Or we could move toward the opposite extreme, slinking away, withdrawing, and escaping from conditions we find threatening.
Neither reaction may serve us particularly well.
We need to watch our tongue and avoid overreacting to anything said or heard. Mercury retrograde already increases the likelihood of misunderstanding. Mercury square Mars adds heat. A careless statement can become a spark landing on dry autumn leaves.
October has been a month of intensity, but intensity can be clarifying. The trees do not negotiate with autumn. They release what they can no longer sustain. Perhaps we are being asked to do something similar — not through dramatic renunciation but through an increasingly clear recognition of what deserves to continue with us and what does not.
November begins with the hoopla of last-minute campaigning in the United States for the midterm elections. Attacks from various sides can be dizzying, mind-numbing, and liable to heighten anxiety. With Mercury still retrograde, messaging can become confused, claims and counterclaims proliferate, and it may be difficult to distinguish substantive information from political theater.
The election results themselves may raise questions thanks to Mercury retrograde, and interpretations of what those results mean may vary widely. Yet many people will simply be happy to experience some brief peace and quiet before campaigning for the ’28 elections begins to gather momentum.
The 4th of November has the two “good guys” of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, in a harmonious sextile aspect. On the same day, the Sun conjuncts Mercury.
Things can lighten up.
This would be a good day to spend with a special someone and to allow ourselves reflective time. Much of the hoo-ha may be behind us, at least for the moment. We can turn down the external noise and listen again to our own thoughts.
Issues raised regarding new technologies and their rapid advances might also become more muted and less anxiety-provoking. Fact can begin to separate itself from fiction, while exaggerated claims and disinformation may lose some of their emotional charge. The orderly progression of technological development can continue beneath the rhetoric surrounding it.
The Scorpio New Moon on the 9th of November, when the Sun conjuncts the Moon [2:02 AM EST], initiates a two-week cycle during which we may give serious thought to what is truly important to us.
Scorpio strips away decoration. It asks what remains when the superficial has been removed.
We can consider our individual journey and personal destiny while appreciating the balancing act between being proactive and receptive. Perhaps we gain greater awareness that we are neither passive participants in our life journey nor its sole arbiters. Instead, we are co-creators with the universe unfolding.
That distinction becomes increasingly important in the asequential reality of our new landscape. In a sequential model, we assume that effort A leads predictably to result B. In an asequential environment, the connection between intention and manifestation can become far less obvious. An apparent setback may redirect us toward a better opportunity. A chance meeting can alter years of planning. Something lost can create space for something we would never otherwise have encountered.
Our responsibility is to maintain awareness and mindfulness, to participate fully without assuming that we alone control the outcome.
November 10th has Venus sextile Mars and gives us the impetus to enjoy ourselves, engage in pleasurable events, and spend quality time with that special person or people in our life. We may feel more relaxed, content, and less anxious about what is going on around us.
We could be engaging the sentiment expressed by Mahatma Gandhi: “If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.”
Whatever may be occurring on the world stage, we still have sovereignty over the quality of energy we bring into our own interactions. Peace is not merely a geopolitical condition. It can begin across a dinner table, in a conversation, in the willingness to listen rather than react.
While the superstitious consider Friday the 13th unlucky and anxiety-provoking, Friday the 13th in November has two major changes in direction as both Mercury at 10:54 AM EST and Venus at 7:27 PM EST end their retrograde cycles and turn direct.
The three-week Mercury retrograde had Murphy’s Law of “whatever can go wrong could go wrong” in effect, and we might have experienced various mix-ups, misunderstandings, delays, and screw-ups while the energy suggested that we go back over matters rather than move ahead precipitously with significant actions.
Now the mental fog can begin to lift.
The Venus retrograde was a six-week cycle, with Venus retrograding through the early part of Scorpio, a Sign of Detriment for Venus, and back through the late degrees of Libra, a Sign Venus rules. Relationships may have been problematic. Old connections may have resurfaced. Questions regarding value, affection, reciprocity, and commitment may have required reconsideration.
With Venus turning direct, we can have a better appreciation for those people in our lives who have proven their value not merely through words but through consistency, presence, and genuine caring.
The season has been performing its own sorting process.
The Mars conjunct Jupiter on the 16th can put us into turbo-drive, fast out of the gate and looking to expand our interests and go the distance. We may want what we want and be unwilling to brook any interference.
Enthusiasm can be contagious, and there is certainly something to be said for momentum. Yet we need to be wary of getting on our high horse, becoming narcissistic or self-absorbed. We could become blinded by the light and rush forward without checking conditions, developing an itinerary, or even finalizing our destination.
Momentum might seem more important than the where, how, or why.
But speed is not necessarily progress.
Excessive actions on our part can have us brought up short on the 18th–19th, when the Sun first squares Jupiter on the 18th, followed by the Sun square Mars on the 19th.
Promises made at the height of our confidence might prove difficult to fulfill. We may discover that we do not have all the resources necessary to pull off our grand endeavors. Whether the missing component is time, money, expertise, stamina, or support, something could fall short of what our enthusiasm had assumed.
We may have swung wildly into the irrational exuberance of the Jupiter Mars conjunction only to find ourselves hitting the wall with the Sun square to those same two planets mid-week.
Again, Autumn 2026 teaches calibration.
The universe does not necessarily say no. Sometimes it says not so fast.
The 22nd of November has the Sun exiting Scorpio and entering Sagittarius [2:23 AM EST]. The atmosphere changes perceptibly. After Scorpio’s deep waters and autumn’s intensifying shadows, Sagittarius raises its eyes toward the horizon.
We can feel more buoyant, begin engaging the holiday spirit, and become more outgoing. The Sun’s entry into Sagittarius creates by Sign a Fire Grand Trine with the Sun in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Leo, and Saturn and Neptune both in Aries.
Fire warms the late-autumn landscape.
We look toward expansion rather than contraction, possibility rather than restriction. We may feel more optimistic and perhaps recognize again that attitude is a significant determinant of our experience.
What we conceive and believe, we generate to our circumstances.
That does not mean that wishing alone creates reality. The earlier parts of the season have already taught us the importance of structure, discernment, resourcefulness, and flexibility. But attitude determines how we engage the raw material of our circumstances. Two people can encounter the same obstacle and see entirely different possibilities.
A sense of personal destiny may become a driving force on the 23rd when the Sun trines Neptune.
This is a day to ruminate upon our pathway forward.
Where do we want to go?
What do we want to do?
Who, during this period of metamorphosis, are we in the process of being?
Such questions need not be answered immediately. In fact, the most profound questions are often better lived than answered. Taking time to consider the essential elements that make up our lives can allow for clearer sailing and greater confidence in our “right” direction when we encounter inevitable bumps along the highway.
There will be options and alternatives along our way, challenges too, with occasional pulls for us to step backward into the comforts of the familiar — the entrapments of our past.
One such moment may occur the following day, the 24th of November, with the Gemini Full Moon when the Sun opposes the Moon [9:53 AM EST].
This Full Moon signature has the Sun Moon opposition in orb of squares to Mars and Jupiter in Leo. We may feel as though we have all sorts of possibilities yet simultaneously feel blocked in effectively pulling off any one of them.
Too many choices can become another form of limitation.
Fortunately, the Sun Moon opposition is also in harmonious aspects to Saturn and Neptune. While we might assume obstacles stand in the way of moving forward, we can summon our courage and affirm, mantra-like:
“I think I can. I think I can. I know I can.”
After all, we have a significant co-pilot navigating our way — the transcendental planets.
The Sun in Sagittarius trined Neptune on the 23rd, and the Sun sextiles Pluto and the Sun opposes Uranus on the 25th. If we focus upon what is truly essential and meaningful to us, avoid becoming narcissistic or overly willful, and remain able to shift and change as conditions warrant, then we can forge ahead with our greatest plans and endeavors.
Uranus may throw an unexpected curveball, but perhaps the curveball is precisely what prevents us from following the wrong road.
We are aided in the process by Mars entering Virgo on the 25th [6:37 PM EST]. We can temper our self-expressive focus by concentrating upon the specifics and details by which we might actually accomplish our ambitions.
The visionary needs the craftsperson.
The dream needs the blueprint.
This timeframe provides the energy not only to consider grand ambitions but also to work out the details by which we can get from here to there. The journey from inspiration to manifestation is composed of innumerable small steps, and Mars in Virgo is quite willing to take them.
The 26th of November is Thanksgiving Day in the United States, and there is much for which to be grateful.
The attitude of gratitude paves the way for us to bolster our confidence, accept the twists and turns likely to occur, and recognize that our lives are filled with bounty and good blessings. Gratitude changes the focus from what is absent to what is present, from what has gone wrong to what has gone right.
Especially during times of extraordinary transformation, it can be easy to become so focused upon disruption that we overlook the quiet miracles surrounding us — people who love us, opportunities that appeared unexpectedly, problems that somehow resolved themselves, doors that opened precisely when another door closed.
The universal forces are beside us, keeping us on our destiny’s path and assisting us along the way.
The two “good guys” of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, are in a harmonious sextile aspect on the 28th. Love and romance may be highlighted. Conversations can be uplifting, spurring us onward toward fulfilling our greatest achievements.
No longer are we questioning whether successful results are possible. We now know that they can be.
The “feel good” nature of this day provides the necessary stimulus to take off our blinders and consider all options, with an appreciation that what we wish to accomplish is indeed achievable.
And then comes one of the most powerful signatures not merely of autumn but of these extraordinary times.
On the 29th of November, Uranus exactly trines Pluto.
Since the end of April, when Uranus first entered Gemini, we have been experiencing the transcendental planets in a powerful energy configuration of Uranus trine Pluto and both sextile Neptune. We have been standing on the threshold of a technological revolution, a time when the paradigm shift from linear, sequential reality into asequential reality becomes increasingly evident.
These are not simply faster versions of old processes. We are witnessing changes in the way information is created and transmitted, in how technology interacts with human capability, and in how quickly what once seemed impossible can become ordinary.
Although threatening to people holding tightly to the familiar and outmoded, an epochal change is in process.
Every great transition produces resistance. The familiar, even when inadequate, can feel safer than the unknown. Yet history repeatedly demonstrates that once a fundamental technological or social threshold has been crossed, there is rarely a genuine return to what existed before.
Unexpected developments are likely around the 29th of November. There can be some crash and burns, but it would be wise to bear in mind the Greek mythology story of the phoenix rising from its ashes to soar ever higher.
Destruction and creation can sometimes be different phases of the same process.
This is a time for us to incorporate changes — even radical changes — into our lives in order to align more fully with our soul’s purpose and what holds true meaning for us. If we are unwilling or unable to make necessary changes ourselves, circumstances may eventually make those changes for us.
Better to participate in transformation than merely be subjected to it.
From whatever unexpected situations might arise over the weekend of November 28th–29th, we can begin developing appropriate structures for the way forward on the 30th when the Sun trines Saturn.
New foundations can be established, drawing upon the expertise of our experiences while concentrating upon our intended future. Structure and methodology turn the conceptual into manifestation.
Yet even as we build, we need always to keep in mind the necessity of fluidity and flexibility during these times.
What works today might not work tomorrow.
A foundation must be strong, but the structure built upon it may need to be adaptable. Perhaps this is the architecture required for the emerging age: strong values, clear purpose, flexible methodology.
Although we could be soaring with the eagles toward the end of November and as we move into December, early December may prove challenging. Prospects and opportunities that seemed possible, perhaps even inevitable and easily achievable, can suddenly appear vexing or unattainable.
Autumn has one more series of tests before yielding to winter.
The 4th of December has Mercury square Jupiter, Mars square Uranus, and Venus exiting its own Sign of Libra to enter Scorpio [3:13 AM EST], a Sign of Detriment for Venus.
Not only could we make miscalculations from boundless optimism, but we are liable to push the envelope. Mercury square Jupiter can exaggerate assumptions. Mars square Uranus adds impulsiveness and unpredictability. Knee-jerk reactions can increase the propensity for accidents, sudden disruptions, or violent behavior.
And Venus entering Scorpio does little to soften matters.
Everyone may seem very much on edge, looking out for personal interests while swirls of erratic behavior keep us on our toes. This is a day when we need to be careful out there, figuratively have eyes in the back of our head, and take a defensive approach to whatever we might encounter.
Defensive does not mean fearful.
It means aware.
Things are not helped by Mercury exiting Scorpio and entering Sagittarius on the 6th [3:33 AM EST]. Mercury is in Detriment in Sagittarius, for our thinking can become too broad, too diffuse, and consequently clarity may be lacking.
We might feel upbeat with a tendency toward blind optimism and insufficient basis in fact. We can go blithely along, convinced that everything will somehow work itself out.
Perhaps it will.
But hope works best when accompanied by awareness.
On a positive note, Mercury in Sagittarius engages the transcendental planets, with Mercury trine Neptune on the 7th, and Mercury opposed Uranus and sextile Pluto on the 8th, the same day that we have the Sagittarius New Moon when the Sun conjuncts the Moon [7:52 PM EST] and influences the next two weeks up to the Full Moon on the 23rd.
This New Moon accentuates the Mutable Signs, with Mercury triggering a T-Square through the opposition to Uranus and a square to Mars, exact on the 9th. The New Moon also highlights the Fire Grand Trine.
The imagery is striking. Fire wants to rise, expand, illuminate. Mutable energy wants to move, adapt, and change. Uranus introduces the unexpected. Mars supplies action. Neptune sensitizes perception. Pluto cuts to the core.
The days can feel like standing at the center of a rapidly changing weather system where the winds shift before we have fully adjusted our sails.
If we can keep a rein on our temperament and prevent ourselves either from falling into irrational exuberance or assuming that we are in total control of our situation, the universal energies may work in our favor.
The key to these times remains flexibility.
We are living amid extraordinarily fluid conditions during this paradigm shift as we transition from one epoch — sequential reality — into another — asequential reality.
The Mercury Neptune trine may heighten our sense of things, with intuition finely attuned even when what we pick up seems extraordinary or beyond the norm. We may know something without being able immediately to explain how we know it.
Intuition, however, is most valuable when accompanied by discernment. Not every impression is prophecy. Not every feeling is fact. The challenge is to allow intuitive awareness into the conversation without surrendering critical analysis.
The Mercury Uranus opposition is one of my least favorite energy configurations for travel, and especially air travel. Whether we are traveling or not, this configuration can throw curveballs at us through communication difficulties, computer and high-tech problems, schedule changes, and travel issues.
Plans may need to be altered at the last minute.
Again: flexibility.
If we do not get bolloxed by the unanticipated, the Mercury Pluto trine can help us cut through all the static to reach the heart of any matter. Beneath the noise lies the essential. Pluto has little interest in decoration; it wants the truth underneath.
Since April, the universal energies have ramped up, prodding our shift from old familiar patterns into explorations of new ways of being and behaving. It has not always been easy to navigate the currents.
But what is the alternative?
To become overwhelmed and drowned by the changing tides?
The period of the 7th–9th of December can be challenging or highly beneficial, or perhaps some combination of the two. Apart from Mercury engaging the transcendental planets, Mercury also triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with Mercury opposed Uranus and Mercury square Mars.
To balance the T-Square, we need the fourth Mutable Sign Element, Pisces, to provide faith and spiritual determination to surf the waves successfully.
Spiritual warrior — spiritual warrioress — call to action.
The spiritual warrior is not necessarily one who fights. The spiritual warrior is one who remains conscious amid chaos, centered amid volatility, and willing to respond rather than merely react. Courage need not be loud. Sometimes courage is simply refusing to surrender our inner peace to outer circumstances.
The 9th of December can be dicey, not only with Mercury square Mars but with Venus square Pluto.
Things can fall between the cracks. Details may be glossed over. There can be a liability of pushing forward regardless of cautionary signals appearing along the way.
Relationships can be intense. People may become possessive, jealous, or willing to break off relationships over what might otherwise have been only a slight irritation.
This is a time to take things down a notch or two, not act precipitously, and keep a rein on our emotions and actions. Impetuous statements can return to haunt us — perhaps almost immediately.
We might not want to acknowledge our part in any screw-ups, but the blame game has gotten old.
It is time for each of us to accept accountability and responsibility for our actions.
Fortunately, Saturn ends its retrograde cycle and turns direct on the 10th of December [6:31 PM EST].
Something begins to settle.
Matters delayed over the past few months can now move ahead. There may be a stronger sense of grounding, a feeling that we are no longer merely flotsam tossed upon storm-driven seas.
Saturn provides ballast.
After several days when our minds could be all over the place, interspersed with occasional attempts to get a handle on how things are actually operating, we gain greater clarity and are better able to strategize when Mercury trines Saturn on the 11th of December.
We are less likely to go off on a bounder, entranced by what could be without considering either the means or the consequences of our decisions. We can take a more practical approach and develop best practices for achieving our goals.
This is where autumn’s long journey begins to reveal its wisdom.
At the Equinox, we were asked to find balance amid transformation. Through October we experienced the consequences of excess, rigidity, and emotional reactivity. November opened the horizon again, reminding us of possibility and purpose. Early December tested whether we had actually learned those lessons.
Now strategy replaces reaction.
The 12th of December is another day of major shifts and changes. Mars sextiles Venus, suggesting that we can be highly resourceful, attend to details and specifics, and simultaneously keep an eye on our budget and finances.
This is a day when we could figuratively “squeeze blood from a stone.”
No matter how difficult a situation might appear, persistence and commitment — together with careful attention to all the component parts — can allow us to make the seemingly impossible possible.
Resourcefulness becomes more important than abundance.
We may not have everything we want, but perhaps we have everything we need.
Yet we must remain aware of shifting currents, for this day also has Neptune turning direct [5:18 PM EST] and Jupiter turning retrograde [7:57 PM EST].
Two great planetary tides change direction within hours of one another.
Ah, the necessity of flexibility and fluidity during these transformational times.
Neptune direct may gradually bring forward visions, inspirations, or spiritual perceptions that have been developing internally. Jupiter retrograde, by contrast, encourages us to reconsider what expansion truly means. Bigger is not always better. Growth can be qualitative rather than quantitative. Sometimes the greatest expansion occurs within consciousness rather than circumstances.
As autumn moves toward its conclusion, the light has grown thin. Trees that blazed with October color stand increasingly bare. The season has stripped the landscape down to its architecture, branches visible against the winter sky. There is something honest about the late-autumn world. Decoration falls away. Form remains.
Perhaps the season has been doing the same to us.
We have been asked repeatedly to distinguish the essential from the extraneous, authentic purpose from ego gratification, confidence from arrogance, intuition from fantasy, and participation from control.
The latter part of the season brings the Sun trine Jupiter on the 18th. The Fire Grand Trine is activated.
After the unsettled currents of early December, the warmth is welcome.
We can feel confident, enthusiastic, and ready to embrace the holiday spirit in genuinely good spirits. There may be a sense that all is right in our world — not necessarily because every problem has disappeared, but because we recognize ourselves as being on the right track.
And sometimes that is enough.
We can appreciate the many blessings in our lives. We can recognize how much has changed since the Equinox, how much we have learned, how many times an apparent obstruction turned out to be a redirection, and how frequently the universe seemed to provide an answer from a direction we had not considered.
Autumn 2026 has been a season of alchemy.
It began at the Equinox with the Sun activating the Air Grand Trine, immediately linking our personal identity with the larger transformational dance of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. From the outset we were invited to recognize that we are living through something larger than the ordinary ebb and flow of events.
We have been crossing a bridge between worlds.
Behind us lies the increasingly inadequate certainty of sequential reality — the assumption that life must proceed predictably from A to B to C, that the future is merely an extension of the past, and that everything of value can be understood through familiar measurements.
Ahead lies the less predictable landscape of asequential reality — a realm of synchronicity, serendipity, technological acceleration, intuitive perception, unexpected intersections, and possibilities arriving from directions we could not have anticipated.
The bridge itself is where we have been living.
No wonder there have been moments of vertigo.
No wonder some people cling desperately to what has been while others rush recklessly toward what might be.
Neither extreme is necessary.
The Equinox gave us the image of balance for a reason.
We are not asked to abandon everything that came before. Experience remains invaluable. Saturn repeatedly reminds us of the importance of structure, responsibility, and lessons learned. Nor are we asked to worship novelty simply because it is new. Uranus can liberate, but novelty without discernment can become chaos.
Our task is integration.
Take the wisdom of the past without becoming imprisoned by it.
Welcome the future without becoming intoxicated by it.
Remain grounded enough to function in the world and open enough to perceive that the world itself is changing.
October taught us the danger of allowing intensity to become confrontation. Its Fixed Sign pressures revealed how easily conviction can harden into rigidity. Venus retrograde invited us to reconsider relationships and values. Mercury retrograde forced us to slow down, revisit, reconsider, and occasionally laugh at the absurdity of plans gone awry.
November began amid noise but gradually widened the horizon. Mercury and Venus turned direct. Sagittarius restored perspective. The Fire Grand Trine rekindled faith. Uranus trine Pluto on November 29th brought the larger transformation into unmistakable focus, reminding us that epochal change does not ask permission from those who would prefer that everything remain the same.
And December, in its first unsettled weeks, tested our ability to apply what we had learned.
Could we remain flexible when plans changed?
Could we keep our emotional temperature down when others became reactive?
Could we distinguish intuition from wishful thinking?
Could we remain confident without becoming reckless?
Could we accept accountability rather than play the blame game?
Could we maintain faith without abandoning common sense?
These questions are not merely astrological abstractions. They are the practical curriculum of living through transformative times.
As autumn approaches its final days, nature itself offers the appropriate metaphor. The trees have released their leaves not because the leaves were wrong, but because their season was complete. What served beautifully in summer cannot be carried indefinitely into winter.
So too with us.
Some beliefs have completed their season.
Some relationships may have completed theirs.
Some ambitions, identities, fears, assumptions, habits, and ways of interpreting reality may have brought us as far as they can.
We need not condemn them.
We need only release them.
Autumn teaches the elegance of letting go.
A leaf does not cling to the branch in resentment. It releases into the wind, becomes part of the earth, and eventually contributes to new growth. Endings and beginnings are not opposites but phases of the same cycle.
And that may be the deepest lesson of this extraordinary autumn.
Transformation is not an event.
It is a process.
We are not going to awaken one morning and discover that the paradigm shift has suddenly been completed, the technological revolution fully formed, our consciousness permanently raised, and every uncertainty resolved.
We are learning as we go.
We are building the bridge while crossing it.
At times we will move confidently. At other times we will stop and wonder whether the next plank can hold our weight. There will be unexpected detours, reversals, moments of astonishing synchronicity, and periods when nothing seems to make sense.
Confusion, after all, may be the beginning of wisdom.
If the old explanations no longer fit, perhaps that is not evidence that life has become meaningless.
Perhaps it is evidence that a larger meaning is attempting to emerge.
We need not know everything.
We are not supposed to.
What we can do is remain attentive.
We can be discerning without becoming cynical.
Hopeful without becoming naïve.
Confident without becoming arrogant.
Flexible without becoming ungrounded.
Independent without becoming isolated.
Open to magic without surrendering common sense.
We can become spiritual warriors and warrioresses not through battling everything around us, but through refusing to surrender our consciousness to fear, anger, or helplessness.
We can participate.
We can co-create.
And we can remember that the universe may possess considerably more imagination than we do.
Perhaps the answer does not lie behind Door A.
Perhaps Door Q is about to swing open.
As the Sun trines Jupiter on December 18th and the Fire Grand Trine is once again activated, autumn offers us a final warming glow before winter’s arrival. The year is drawing inward. Holiday lights appear against increasingly early darkness. The world outside may be cold, but hearth fires — literal and metaphorical — remind us of what sustains us.
We can look back across the season with gratitude.
Not because everything unfolded according to plan.
Much of it probably did not.
But because every alteration, challenge, insight, connection, disappointment, breakthrough, delay, and unexpected turn has contributed something to the person standing at winter’s threshold.
We are not who we were at the Equinox.
Nor should we be.
The alchemical process continues.
Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto remain the great background forces of transformation. The technological revolution continues. The paradigm shift continues. Our movement from sequential toward asequential reality continues.
But perhaps we have become less frightened by the uncertainty.
Perhaps we have learned to surf.
Perhaps we have begun to understand that the objective is not to stop the waves but to become more skillful in riding them.
Winter waits just beyond the horizon, its long nights carrying their own lessons of stillness, consolidation, and rebirth. Soon the Sun will reach the solstice, the darkness its fullest expression and the light its point of return.
But before we cross that threshold, autumn leaves us with one final image.
Imagine standing beneath a nearly bare tree on a late December afternoon. The sky is crystalline. The last leaves tremble upon the branches. One loosens, turns briefly in the fading sunlight, and drifts toward the earth.
Nothing has gone wrong.
The tree is not dying.
It is preparing.
And so are we.
We have spent this autumn learning when to hold on and when to release, when to act and when to wait, when to rely upon experience and when to venture beyond it. We have confronted the limitations of control and discovered the possibilities of co-creation. We have watched old assumptions loosen while new realities begin taking form.
The balance sought at the Autumn Equinox was never meant to keep us stationary.
It was meant to prepare us for movement.
For transformation.
For the crossing.
Autumn 2026 carries us from the equilibrium of the Equinox through the fires of transformation, the winds of change, the deep waters of introspection, and finally toward the quiet earth of winter.
We arrive at the season’s end lighter than we began.
More discerning.
More flexible.
More aware that the future will not necessarily unfold according to the rules of the past.
And perhaps more willing to trust that fact.
The times are changing.
We are changing with them.
The leaves fall.
The light contracts.
Winter approaches.
And somewhere within the gathering darkness, almost imperceptible at first, the promise of another light is already waiting to be born.
Autumn 2026... alchemy of change...
