Autumn 2025
As the wheel of the year turns and daylight yields to twilight, Autumn 2025 begins with a breath both crisp and uncanny. The season opens on September 22nd, when the Sun enters Libra [2:19 PM EDT], marking the autumn equinox.
This celestial threshold is more than a shift of light; it is a gateway into a time of deep transformation. The equinox chart itself is potent, the Sun forming a kite pattern: trines to Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius, while in direct opposition to Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Both Saturn and Neptune sextile Uranus and Pluto, weaving a rare tapestry that binds the transcendental planets together in mutual resonance.
This alignment underscores the season’s tone: radical change coupled with dissolution of old structures, breakthroughs in technology, and the steady but inexorable unraveling of the past. The sense is that we are midstream on a mighty river — not yet at the falls but feeling the pull of its current toward an unknown horizon.
The days that follow mirror this paradox of wonder and disorientation. On September 23rd, the Sun opposes Neptune and simultaneously trines Uranus. We are swept along by forces larger than ourselves, caught between the haze of uncertainty and the spark of sudden insight. These aspects remind us that we are at once co-creators and passengers, guiding the oars even as the tide carries us forward. It is a mystical sensation, as though dreams and revelations arrive on the same wind.
On September 24th, the cosmic waters churn more fiercely. The Sun trines Pluto, stripping away illusions, while Mars squares Pluto, igniting pressure and intensity. This is not a polite invitation to evolve; it is a summons, perhaps even a demand. Pluto tolerates nothing false, nothing superficial. Its call is stark: adapt or be undone. Those who cling too tightly to old identities or expired roles may feel shaken, while those willing to release and flow discover that upheaval often clears the ground for renewal.
September as a whole becomes a study in paradox: retrospection and revelation, confusion and clarity. The old world continues to crumble, fragment by fragment, even as flashes of the new world rise from the rubble. Saturn and Uranus insist that unfinished business cannot be avoided — whether it is personal responsibility or societal restructuring, the past demands resolution before the future can be fully embraced. This season echoes the theme of balance and refinement, asking us to weigh carefully what must be shed against what must be built anew.
Confusion may well reign at times, yet confusion itself is a threshold to wisdom. When familiar maps dissolve, new truths reveal themselves. In this liminal space, uncertainty is not failure but the fertile soil of possibility. September closes with a sense of standing in two worlds at once — one fading, the other not yet fully born. It is a month that asks us to keep eyes open, hearts willing, and spirits attuned to the miraculous unfolding of these days. The times are indeed a’changing, and the equinox reminds us that change is not an event but a continual rhythm, a turning of the cosmic wheel.
October begins with the equinox kite pattern still echoing in the heavens, the three transcendental planets — Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — highlighted as if holding the stage lights on transformation itself. Intentions may be strategically laid out and, with the help of technological tools and streamlined methods, capable of being set in motion.
Yet the month opens with a caution: don’t let emotional entanglements or the weight of the past drag your feet when the momentum is asking for forward motion.
As the classic Tim Hardin lyric reminds us: “Don’t make promises that you can’t keep.” This refrain rings true on October 1st, when Mercury squares Jupiter. Words and intentions may be plentiful, even generous, but talk is cheap if not grounded in reality. Sympathy might tug at us, urging us to take on burdens that are not our own. Here the cosmos whispers wisdom: you can help someone lift their burden, but you cannot carry it for them. The balance between compassion and personal responsibility defines the day.
On October 6th, Mercury exits Libra and enters Scorpio [12:41 PM EDT], lending sharper edges to our thoughts and communications. Later the same day, the Aries Full Moon unfolds [11:48 PM EDT] with the Moon opposing the Sun. Here we feel a surge of clarity, incisive and cutting, with little room for niceties. The energy favors concise truth-telling, but diplomacy may be in short supply. It can be a profoundly creative day, one that directs our focus more toward shaping the future than dwelling on the past, with an emphasis on stripping away the superficial to reveal only what is essential.
The sharpening of thought intensifies the following day. On October 7th, Mercury squares Pluto, a configuration that demands discernment in speech and restraint in tone. A careless word could cut too deeply. Relationships may be tested, and diplomacy — though wise — is likely to be disregarded. We may peer deeply into plans and ambitions, uncovering truths that dash certain hopes while illuminating others.
If the sting of recent interactions has left wounds, October 8th offers a soothing balm. Venus sextiles Jupiter, the two “good guys” of astrology, inviting indulgence in pleasures, comforts, or small luxuries. This is a cosmic reminder that self-care is not selfish but restorative, particularly in volatile times. Yet swings of mood may remain dramatic — excess one day, restraint the next, elation followed by sober reality. Balance, that elusive Libran gift, is needed now more than ever.
This is underscored just days later. On October 11th, Venus opposes Saturn. Where the 8th tempted with exuberance and extravagance, the 11th offers sober reflection, sometimes through encounters with the past — old friends, old loves, old reminders of where we have been. What once felt expansive may now feel limited, as if Saturn himself is trimming excess with his steady hand. The emotional swing from October 8th to 11th may be stark, with indulgences reconsidered or commitments reevaluated. Purchases might be returned, promises scaled back.
Mid-October revives the Air Grand Trine that has danced on and off since August, this time with Venus as the trigger. On October 13th, Venus exits Virgo to enter Libra [5:19 PM EDT], its home sign, where Venus immediately opposes Neptune. On this same day, Pluto ends its retrograde motion and turns direct [10:54 PM EDT]. Whenever Pluto shifts direction, the earth and the collective tremble. Explosive events — geophysical, political, or emotional — often accompany these shifts. Earthquakes, violent storms, and eruptions mirror the inner quakes of the human psyche. This time is no different: extremes arise, demanding release.
And yet, the entry of Venus into Libra simultaneously strengthens the relational field. The next day, October 14th, Venus perfects its trine to Uranus in Gemini and its trine to Pluto in Aquarius, forming a kite pattern with Neptune’s opposition. Relationships may be extraordinary now: some are serendipitous encounters, others deeply karmic unions. What matters is openness — stepping outside the narrow field of “me” to allow startling revelations to enter. Insights can be breathtaking if we’re willing to set aside self-absorption and engage curiosity.
The sense of marvel is tempered on October 17th, when the Sun squares Jupiter. Even as the miraculous feels tangible — thanks to the Air Grand Trine triggered by Venus — we are reminded that excess can undo balance. Overconfidence or exaggerated enthusiasm may distort clarity. The cosmos urges moderation: wonder is real, but it must be grounded.
The energy intensifies again on October 20th, when Mercury conjuncts Mars in Scorpio. Both planets reside in the second decanate, blending the determination of Scorpio with the visionary reach of Pisces. Thought and action align in laser focus. There is conviction, even a sense of destiny guiding us forward. Yet conviction can blur into stubbornness, and the danger of running full speed on the wrong track looms. Fortunately, this alignment occurs just before the Libra New Moon, allowing course corrections before momentum locks in.
The New Moon arrives on October 21st [8:25 AM EDT], its influence stretching into early November. Though positioned in Libra, the Moon swiftly enters Scorpio three hours later, followed by the Sun’s ingress into Scorpio the next day [October 22nd]. This shift draws us deeper, away from airy visions of innovation and into the waters of feeling, intuition, and intensity. From here, the Water Grand Trine gains strength, carrying us into November. The equinox’s airy clarity yields to emotional depth, asking us to not only imagine transformation but to embody it.
Although early August through mid-October has graced us with Air Grand Trines that awakened the technological revolution with significant advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other innovative developments of technology, we are now feeling the influence of a Water Grand Trine. Our mind and thoughts may have stirred since early August; now our moods and feelings are likely heightened through November.
Neptune retrogrades back into its own Sign of Pisces on the 22nd [5:48 AM EDT], and the Sun exits Libra to enter Scorpio [11:51 PM EDT]. We have a Stellium of three planets in Scorpio as the Sun joins Mercury and Mars in the Fixed Water Sign and we have six planets in Water Signs. We can go deep into ourselves, withdraw from the business of the world, and reflect on our inner growth.
The 24th triggers the Water Grand Trine by Mercury in Scorpio trine Jupiter in Cancer, followed on the 25th by Mercury trine Saturn in Pisces. The complimentary but often conflicting energies of Jupiter [expansion] and Saturn [contraction] are in play but in a harmonious manner where we can broaden our interests, all the while that we are whittling down to the most essential.
The 24th of October also has the Sun square Pluto. Combined with the Mercury Grand Trine, this is a time when we can rid ourselves of the extraneous, dispel plans more ego driven than purposeful, and concentrate on the truly meaningful. It is a time for us to get real, harness our inner strength, and determine where we shall place our attention and our determination.
While the Mercury Grand Trine on the 24th – 25th may have sharpened our wits, we can implement plans made and force various issues as Mars triggers the Water Grand Trine with the Scorpio Mars trine Jupiter in Cancer on the 28th, followed by Mars trine Saturn on the 29th. The 29th is a highly active day. Not only do we have the Mars Water Grand Trine operational. Mercury trines Neptune just before Mercury exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius [7:02 AM EDT] where today Mercury opposes Uranus, my least favorite energy configuration for air travel, computer issues, traffic difficulties, and misunderstandings.
On the 29th of October, we might feel as though we are operating on a wing and a prayer. Our faith and sense of personal destiny might be strong, but our way forward could be convoluted with various hiccups impeding our way.
Fortunately, we can get a grip on the 30th when Mercury sextiles Pluto. Clarity returns with the ability to sort through confusing mixed messages we might have received the day before. Our mind is sharp and incisive, and we are able to cut through the static to get clear signals. If communications were off on the 29th, they are concise, succinct and to the point on the 30th.
We step into November with emotions heightened, intuition sharp, and a confident “can do” spirit rising. The Water Grand Trine is active, a kite pattern chart glimmers above, and the three transcendental planets remain engaged, urging us to align with currents larger than ourselves. Destiny feels near at hand, as though each of us is being drawn toward a script outlined before birth. Yet even in this sense of inevitability, we must remember: we are not passengers only. We are co-creators with the universe. To sit idle is to risk indulgence, excess, or apathy, and in times of paradigm shift, complacency is costly.
The month opens with a cautionary note. On November 2nd, Venus squares Jupiter. The two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm in tension may inflate expectations, particularly in relationships. Needs or desires can spill into demands, as if nothing is ever enough. Whether it is our own longings or another’s insistence, the danger is overreach without balance. Relationships may feel stretched thin if generosity turns into entitlement.
Relief and renewal arrive swiftly. On November 3rd, Mars trines Neptune, aligning will with vision. Where we are headed now seems exactly where we are meant to be. Faith returns, reminding us that purpose is not just imagined but lived. Inspiration is tangible, grounding us in a sense of meaning. This is also the last day of the Water Grand Trine in its current form, as Mars prepares to leave Scorpio.
On November 4th, Mars exits Scorpio — the Sign it co-rules with Pluto — and strides into Sagittarius [8:01 AM EDT], immediately opposing Uranus. This is combustible energy, bold and rash, charged with impetuousness. Action accelerates, often without forethought. The spark of Mars in Sagittarius seeks adventure, but the opposition to Uranus suggests volatility, even accident-proneness. Guardrails in thought and action are essential now.
The following day, November 5th, brings the Taurus Full Moon [8:19 AM EDT], the Sun in Scorpio opposing the Moon in Taurus. The light here is clarifying. We are urged to balance intuition with critical analysis, feelings with facts. The Full Moon highlights specifics, nudging us to work smarter rather than harder, to prioritize essentials over distractions. As autumn ripens, the Full Moon becomes a mirror: what are we holding onto, and what must we release?
Momentum deepens on November 6th as Mars sextiles Pluto. This is persistence incarnate, energy harmonized with transformation. Once set in motion, determination becomes unstoppable. The same day, Venus exits Libra and enters Scorpio [5:39 PM EDT], a sign of its Detriment. Venus in Scorpio intensifies relationships, shifting the focus from harmony and sociability to passion, secrecy, and possessiveness. The sweetness of Libra gives way to an edge — relationships may become tests of loyalty or vessels for jealousy.
Tension follows quickly. On November 7th, Venus squares Pluto, sharpening relational standards. Expectations may rise, sometimes unrealistically. Friendships and alliances that no longer align may fall away. Later that evening, Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus [9:22 PM EDT], a reminder that stability is never permanent. Financial systems, values, and security structures may wobble as Uranus revisits unfinished business. Just as Saturn and Neptune are retracing earlier degrees, Uranus too insists we revisit, review, and rework.
On November 9th, Mercury begins its final retrograde of the year [2:02 PM EST], turning backward through Sagittarius — a sign of its Detriment — before re-entering Scorpio. The infamous Mercury retrograde maxim holds: whatever can go wrong could go wrong. Travel, technology, and communication are prone to hiccups. This cycle is best used not for pushing forward but for revisiting, reflecting, and refining. Legal and financial matters deserve particular care now.
Jupiter, too, joins the retrograde chorus. On November 11th, it stations retrograde [11:41 AM EST] in Cancer, beginning a four-month period of looking backward. Expansion turns inward, asking us to reflect on how the past has shaped the present. Old philosophies, cultural inheritances, and childhood conditioning may resurface. Do these beliefs still serve us, or are they relics from a world that no longer exists?
As if to resist the cosmic pull backward, November 12th brings Mercury conjunct Mars in Sagittarius. The urge to act decisively collides with the drag of retrogrades. Impatience may tempt us into rash choices. But acting from ego — pushing forward without reflection — could prove costly. The challenge now is restraint: to channel energy wisely rather than recklessly.
Mid-month, the third of the season’s Water Grand Trines arrives. On November 17th, the Scorpio Sun trines Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces, weaving expansion and discipline into harmony. This is a moment of equilibrium, a chance to set our house in order — both literally and figuratively. Mercury sextiles Pluto on the same day, sharpening intent and focus. Vision clears; we can see both what lies ahead and what is receding in the rearview mirror.
On November 18th, Mercury retrogrades back into Scorpio, joining the Sun and Venus to form a temporary Scorpio Stellium. Intensity rises. These days may feel heavy with unexpected events and destabilizing curveballs. Security seems tenuous, the atmosphere charged with black swans and hidden truths surfacing. November 19th intensifies the tension with Mercury opposing Uranus. Misunderstandings, technology glitches, and travel disruptions — especially air travel — become more likely. This opposition bleeds into the Scorpio New Moon on November 20th [1:47 AM EST], amplifying its influence.
The Scorpio New Moon is powerful: the Sun and Moon conjunct Mercury, Uranus sextile Neptune, all under the echo of the Mercury–Uranus opposition. The lunation trines Jupiter and Neptune while opposing Uranus, activating the Water Grand Trine. It is as if the cosmos is throwing us into the 5 D’s of Dodgeball: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. Unpredictable events may jolt us off course, demanding quick pivots. Yet trust in intuition provides guidance. Awareness and adaptability are the best strategies.
The Sun opposes Uranus and trines Neptune on November 21st, just before the Sun exits Scorpio for Sagittarius [8:36 PM EST]. Intensity begins to ease, replaced by a renewed appetite for optimism. Shadows lift, and the season feels lighter. The Stellium shifts from Scorpio to Sagittarius, replacing brooding introspection with fiery curiosity and the search for far horizons.
On November 22nd, Mercury triggers another Water Grand Trine, forming trines to Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer. By disentangling from outdated entanglements, we create space to grow. The compression of Saturn becomes the expansion of Jupiter, a reminder of duality’s law: pressure yields breakthrough.
Optimism deepens on November 23rd as the Sagittarius Sun sextiles Pluto in Aquarius, infusing efforts with confidence and determination. Attitude matters greatly now — what we expect, we shape. A dystopian mindset manifests hardship, while faith in possibility invites blessing.
November 24th sweetens the tone with Mercury conjunct Venus, highlighting the comforts of home, family, and gratitude. As Thanksgiving week begins in the United States, the stars echo the earthly call to give thanks for what we already have.
This theme of appreciation strengthens on November 26th, when Venus trines Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces, again activating the Water Grand Trine. Contentment comes not from chasing what we lack but from savoring what is present — homecomings, reconnections, and meaningful bonds.
Thanksgiving Day itself, November 27th, sees Saturn turn direct [10:52 PM EST] after four months retrograde. This pivot offers momentum. With Saturn moving forward, delays lessen, and methodical progress resumes. Though unfinished business from Pisces lingers until early 2026, the sense of moving forward is unmistakable.
The month closes with a flurry. On November 29th, Mercury stations direct after three weeks retrograde. Transitions always bring confusion, but clarity begins to return. The same day, Venus opposes Uranus, perhaps shaking relationships with sudden revelations. Flaws may be exposed, but honesty clears the air.
Any wounds from the 29th are softened on November 30th, as Venus trines Neptune and then enters Sagittarius [3:14 PM EST], joining the Sun and Mars to create a Stellium in the Mutable Fire Sign. As Venus shifts, possessiveness fades into charm, jealousy into curiosity. Encounters feel brighter, more expansive, infused with laughter and intrigue. Sagittarius reminds us that difference — of culture, perspective, and experience — enriches rather than divides.
November ends on this note of openness, hinting at December’s continued expansion.
December arrives with a lighter tone, buoyed by the Sagittarius Stellium. With the Sun, Mars, and Venus all in the sign of the Archer, curiosity rises, horizons widen, and optimism lifts the spirit. The mood is more adventurous now, less concerned with shadows and more eager to look outward and upward.
On December 2nd, Venus sextiles Pluto, softening interactions while deepening their significance. We may encounter meaningful connections, some offering perspectives that broaden our outlook. Foreign cultures, new ideas, or unexpected encounters remind us that life is larger than our immediate sphere. The cosmos nudges us toward intrigue, reminding us that fresh vision often arrives from beyond the familiar.
The Gemini Full Moon on December 4th [6:14 PM EST] underscores this theme. The Sun in Sagittarius faces the Moon in Gemini, asking us to balance the pursuit of new horizons with attentiveness to the people and commitments close at hand. The temptation under this Full Moon is to scatter energy too widely; the wisdom lies in integrating near and far, the intimate and the expansive. In the United States, with its insular tendencies, the Full Moon reminds us to take off blinders, to think globally as well as personally.
December 6th through 7th brings the final recurrence of the Water Grand Trine that has pulsed through the season since August. Mercury acts as the trigger, trining Jupiter in Cancer on the 7th, followed by Saturn in Pisces on the 8th. Thought deepens, sharpened by feeling and memory. Intuition guides perception, while Saturn provides grounding. It is an invitation to craft solid foundations, integrating experience into a strategy for growth.
Yet this clarity is challenged almost immediately. On December 8th, Mars squares Saturn, a classic clash of drive against delay. Impatience may boil over, frustration may rise, and those acting arrogantly or rashly could find themselves checked by circumstances. Despite best-laid plans, there is a risk that efforts collapse under their own weight.
The tension escalates on December 10th, when Mercury again opposes Uranus, one of the most disruptive configurations for communication and travel. Glitches with technology, unexpected detours, and misunderstandings abound. On this same day, Nptune turns direct [7:21 AM EST], adding fog to the confusion. The combination of Mercury–Uranus disruption with Neptune’s haze is like navigating a storm at sea: signals scrambled, direction unclear.
Fortunately, clarity begins to return the following day. On December 11th, Mercury trines Neptune just before exiting Scorpio to re-enter Sagittarius [5:40 PM EST]. Intuition pierces the fog. What empirical evidence fails to explain, instinct and faith reveal. With Mercury now joining the Sun, Venus, and Mars in Sagittarius, the Stellium grows stronger, amplifying enthusiasm and curiosity. Yet Mercury in Sagittarius, a sign of its Detriment, can be too diffuse, chasing possibilities without focus. Optimism abounds, but discernment is essential.
On December 13th, Mercury sextiles Pluto, lending power to words and insight to thought. Communication becomes persuasive, conversations influential. Futures can be envisioned with clarity and conviction, though the risk remains of overpromising.
This optimism crests on December 14th, when Mars squares Neptune. Action may race ahead, but without direction. Blind faith, unchecked, can lead to missteps. The danger is mistaking wishful thinking for destiny. A pause for reflection is wise here.
Stability returns on December 15th, as Mars exits Sagittarius and enters Capricorn [2:34 AM EST]. In Capricorn, Mars is Exalted, its fire tempered by discipline and structure. Drive turns pragmatic; enthusiasm is now channeled into persistence. Guardrails replace recklessness, and determination gains endurance.
Yet the cosmos tests resolve almost immediately. On December 16th, the Sun squares Saturn. Progress may slow, obstacles arise, and confidence may falter. Responsibilities demand attention, pulling us back to unresolved matters. Progress remains possible, but only with patience and steady effort.
The Sagittarius New Moon on December 19th [8:43 PM EST] underscores this duality. The Sun and Moon conjunct Venus, but square Saturn and Neptune. Spirits may be high with holiday cheer, yet anxieties linger beneath the surface. Enthusiasm and doubt vie for dominance, creating mood swings between euphoria and despair. The New Moon urges discernment: joy is real, but it must not be untethered from reality.
On December 20th, the Sun squares Neptune, casting shadows of doubt. How we perceive the proverbial glass — half empty or half full — becomes our choice. Victimhood tempts, but empowerment remains possible. This is often the time when news of loss surfaces, reminding us of life’s fragility amid its celebrations.
The season ends on December 21st, the day of the Solstice, as Venus squares Saturn. Old connections may resurface —memories, news, or encounters reminding us of where we have come from. Not all revelations are joyous; some highlight struggle or limitation. Yet the solstice, the longest night of the year, reminds us that light is reborn in darkness. Even amid the turbulence of this paradigm shift, seeds of renewal are sown.
Closing Reflection
Autumn 2025 has carried us from equinox to solstice, from the airy clarity of September’s kite patterns into the watery depths of November’s trines, and onward to December’s fiery optimism tempered by Saturn’s sobering hand. Through it all, the transcendental planets — Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — have woven their relentless thread of transformation. Old worlds have crumbled further, while glimpses of new ones have emerged, shimmering like stars through clearing mist.
This season has asked us to face paradox: to balance inspiration with discipline, faith with realism, indulgence with restraint. At times, confusion reigned. Yet confusion, as ever, is the herald of wisdom, clearing space for new truths to take root.
Now, as the Winter Solstice arrives, the wheel turns once more. Darkness stretches longest, yet within that darkness the promise of returning light is born. Autumn’s lesson is clear: we are not merely swept by the tides of change, we are co-creators within them. To walk this path with open eyes, willing hearts, and attuned spirits is to participate in the miraculous unfolding of these days.
