This week continues with the push pulls we have come to experience and even expect. Should we be surprised? Not really, since we are living in a time of great volatility. Yes, life at this time is quite volatile. And this week has various energy switches to increase the level of volatility.
This week has some pleasant energies with us able to start things up once we’ve carefully considered them, follow through and bring into greater realization our plans, a great deal of talk and discussions, and a weekend focused on our home and family matters.
This week has the Solar Eclipse on the 6th – 7th with the Aquarius New Moon and the ushering in of the Chinese New Year of the Brown Earth Rat. This week is also the second week of this year’s first Mercury retrograde. Are we having fun yet?
Another exciting week, sports fans. Yes, this week in the US ends with Super Bowl Sunday and is the week before Super Duper Tuesday, Tsunami Tuesday, Mega Tuesday or Gigabyte Tuesday or however you wish to encapsulate the spectacle of multi-state primaries for the Presidential nominations for the two major political parties in the US. Even if we’re not engaged in either of these spectacles of bruising and fun-loving games, this week is still an active one and one that is likely to have its ups and downs.
A great deal is going on during this week, much of it asking us to consider our future goals from the perspective of our ideals and to question whether our lives are built upon rock or built upon sand. While this week is a good week to strategize, put down some roots, it is also a good time for us to note those areas of our lives that are being triggered. Some of these areas are likely to be issues that we are likely to deal with over the next decade or so.
This week seems to be bubbling along with some pleasant energies until we reach the end of the week and the weekend when things could get more fractious.
This week is highlighted by the Capricorn New Moon. Like a racehorse out of the starting gate, we too can move swiftly forward putting into practice our New Year resolutions. Now is a time when we could put our spirit into action, take our dreams and our goals and put the necessary structure and most appropriate means to accomplish our plans.

In numerology 2007 has been a universal year of a 9, and 2008 is a universal year of a 1. Yes, out with the old, in with the new. Change is not always easy, and we are certainly likely to see the uneasiness of it during this week.
This week is Christmas week and the week preceding New Year’s. With the energies operating this week, we could be focusing on parties and having a good time. People may be out shopping looking for bargains and willing to cast their financial fate to the winds. The sense of immediacy, with its aspect of immediate gratification, can be strong this week.
There is one word that most aptly describes this week: YOWZERS! Yes, this week can keep us hopping with an underlining of intense. There is so much going on this week with the stars that it might be hard to keep up with all of it.
Apart from Monday’s Mercury Uranus square, most of the week is very pleasant. There are some nice energies for get-togethers and social interactions. Whether we are meeting people for lunch, holiday parties or merely connecting with them by phone, through the mail or by e-mail, our focus is likely to be geared to the spirit of these holidays. We’re filled with good cheer but it’s important that we avoid overfill.

This New Moon influence has a Watery impact with a Grand Trine in the Water Element at the time of the New Moon when the Sun Moon conjunction trined Mars in Cancer and trined Uranus in Pisces. There is magic in the air, if we take the time to step out of our own way and be open to possibilities that may seem at best improbable. The major energy shift this week is Mars in Cancer turning retrograde.
This week has its ups and downs. We may be put off by people who are grandstanding and we could find ourselves wondering what our lives are all about. We might consider shapeshifting, changing things about ourselves or looking at new areas for us to explore.
This week ends October and begins November and is punctuated by two planetary direction changes. First Neptune then Mercury turns direct this week. With Mercury turning direct, we end our third and final Mercury retrograde of the year. Can we breathe a sigh of relief? To some degree we certainly can as Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong will’ is put on hold until we come into 2008.

Feeling more enthusiastic, thanks to Venus sextile Mars, Mercury sextile Venus and Mercury trine Mars, we can straighten out misunderstandings and heal any slights felt. We can laugh about miscommunications and see them as water over the dam. This week is far more placid than last week, more on an even keel, with less challenges and greater ease of expression.
This week turns up the energy with the Libra New Moon, Mercury turning retrograde for the third and final Mercury retrograde for this year and the third and final Jupiter square Uranus. The week also has Venus entering Virgo, Mars sextile Saturn, Sun sextile Jupiter, Sun trine Neptune and Venus conjunct Saturn. This week is highly active and starts off in a structured and methodical manner. Ah, yes, the well-laid plans of men can turn awry and we are certainly likely to see that with both the Jupiter square Uranus and the Mercury retrograde. We may find ourselves bordering on the over-optimistic, over-confident, willing to take risks without fully considering the possible consequences. We might also experience unexpected situations that throw our schedule out of whack.
The beginning of this week can have us doing a number of different things, juggling various activities. We can do it effectively, thanks to the Mercury sextile Saturn. We are able to focus on what needs to get done and accomplish our plans by the quickest and most effective means.

With seven planets in Mutable Signs at the time of the New Moon, we could be pushed and pulled in various directions during this next fortnight. Storm systems, whether climatic conditions or emotional dramas, can be strong and intense. While we are concentrating on our standing in our community, our work environment and our social circle, we might be thrown off center by the ratcheting up of our activities and involvements. We really have to consider whether we just have too much going on.
