This week celebrates Valentine's Day, a day for lovers, but this year we need to be careful not to mimic a St. Valentine's Day massacre. This week could prove intense, fraught with misunderstandings and hurt feelings.
We start the week on an upbeat and optimistic note thanks to the Moon in Sagittarius and Venus sextile Mars. Beginning on a high note, the week then turns sharp with some flat notes along the way.
Mercury in Pisces turns retrograde triggering fears of the unknown. We may take on a more reactive approach rather than a proactive approach. We might feel that we're doing the two-step with one step forward, two steps back, two steps forward, one step back.
The Aquarian New Moon on Saturday ushers in the Chinese New Year of the Fire Pig. This New Moon sextiles Pluto and reinforces our plans, desires and confidence for our future. We are impassioned by our prospects and focused on creating purpose and meaning for our lifestyle.
We increase the power pack of Pisces with the Sun moving into Pisces joining Mercury, Venus and Uranus in the Mutable Water Sign.
Our moods can swing between highs and lows. We might set high standards for others, looking at their flaws rather than appreciating their qualities. If we create unrealistic expectations, then we could find ourselves profoundly disappointed.
Our communications may be confusing and our ideas fuzzy.
We may not feel on solid ground. We could be concerned about being victimized and taken advantage of. We might rely upon the past without considering whether past solutions are effective as present remedies.
This week starts off with us determined to create a better future. The latter part of the week could have us spinning our wheels, resenting our conditions and feeling unable to advance our interests. Remember the two-step and keep in mind that this Chinese New Year promises times of la dolce vita, the Italian phrase for the sweet life.
* Bright Lights, Distant Horizons - Jupiter, Venus, Neptune, Saturn, Sun
Monday starts the week with the Sagittarius Moon conjunct Jupiter, square Venus, trine Saturn and sextile both Neptune and the Sun. We may feel upbeat, looking to stretch our wings and expand our horizons. We want to be with those people that are looking at the brighter side of life, walking the sunny side of the street. While there is an old saying 'misery loves company', I always add an addendum: 'just don't make it your company'. We're not interested in people's emotional dramas today. Nor do we want to deal with people lugging along a lot of their baggage. We want to put our spirit into action, express our creative selves and explore new realms that can put a smile on our face. This Monday can be a fun and enlivening one. Our confidence and optimism are strong so let's not allow any naysayers to rain on our parade. Today is a day for high hopes and exuberant feelings.
* All Together - Venus, Mars, Pluto, Mercury retrograde
Monday night and early Tuesday morning can have us traveling in our sleep state. We might have a night of considering what is important to us and what is only the tinsel of our parade. We awaken ready to get into gear. As though we had enjoyed a 'mental health' day on Monday, we're ready to put our energy and optimism to work. With Venus sextile Mars we could find valuable support for some of our ambitions. People may be impressed by our sincerity and our desire to achieve. We can move mountains today but let's be sure of the direction and itinerary before we step into action. Towards the end of the day, Mercury turns retrograde. As Mercury is shifting direction today, we could also find that we're experiencing car problems, traffic difficulties, computer glitches and misunderstandings. Yes, we have entered the spin zone, when we may feel that we're going round and round, trying to figure things out and wondering whether we're coming or going. With Mercury going retrograde, it is essential to check things once, twice, even three times, before signing off on them. If we are leaving a phone message, let's be certain to give our name and return telephone number. With Mercury retrograde for the next three weeks, it is far better to go over things, review and rework, rather than initiating. If we have to initiate and begin new projects, remember to check once, twice, even three times before assuming that all the details and specifics have been covered.
* Love's Agenda - Mercury, Uranus, Mars, Venus
Wednesday is Valentine's Day, that special day when we tell and show those special people in our lives how much they mean to us. It's a great sentiment, but sometimes the sentiment doesn't translate well. With Mercury retrograde, we do have to watch for those backhanded compliments where someone wants to say something really nice to us but it comes out the wrong way, gets stuck in their gullet, or is unintelligible due to their foot being in their mouth. With the Moon in Capricorn and the Moon conjunct Mars and sextiling the three Pisces-transiting planets of Mercury, Uranus and Venus, this Valentine's Day can be pleasant and possible fairly traditional. The checklist of 'how to do Valentine's Day' may be accomplished well but what about a little panache, a little style that reflects our own unique character and personality. Let's add some spice to this Valentine's Day. We do need to watch that people don't play on our emotions in order to get something they want. With the Capricorn - Pisces interplay today, we could find some people having an agenda of getting ahead or realizing one of their ambitions by being loving, sweet and nice. I don't mean to be a parade rainer but it would be wise to be especially discerning in the kind sentiments expressed today. Are they real or is it only memorex? With the Capricorn - Pisces interplay we might also find this day allows us to draw upon our intuitive and visionary sense to move our interests ahead.
* New Day Dawning
Thursday has no major aspects. The Moon moves out of Capricorn and enters Aquarius. We may feel that we're on the brink of something new, something exciting that can allow us greater autonomy and also open new doors for us. If we overlooked anyone yesterday, today is good day to play catch up. There is nothing wrong with an apres - Valentine's Day. In fact, for some people it may be far more comfortable, since the buildup and hype of these Hallmark Holidays often are a recipe for letdown with the actual occurrence. Thursday is a good day for us to reach out and touch someone, tell them we're thinking of them and hoping that they are making it blithely and easily through the winter.
* Betwixt and Between - Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn
During the autumn of '05 until Thanksgiving Day of '06, we were suffering under the Fixed Sign T-Square of Saturn in Leo, Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Aquarius. We broke the 'spell' of this energy configuration on Thanksgiving Day of '06 as Jupiter left Scorpio to enter its own sign of Sagittarius. Friday could offer a case of deja vu, not to the extent of that Fixed Sign T-Square but due to the Aquarius Moon sextiling Jupiter, conjuncting Neptune and opposing Saturn today. We could feel like an accordion, expandiing and stretching only to feel ourselves being contracted and restricted. This is one of those days when we might question what we're doing and where we are going. We may feel like we're on a roller coaster, up one moment, down the next. The key thing about Friday is to recognize that we're coming to the weekend and any definitive decisions might best be put aside until after the weekend. Although obligations may beckon us, we might prefer hanging out with friends and considering the lighter side of life. If we need justification, then let's realize that we're on the edge of a New Moon and a New Moon that ushers in the Chinese New Year of the Pig.
* Prospecting Our Future - Sun, Pluto
Saturday celebrates the Chinese New Year, this New Year being the Year of the Fire Pig. Jubilation and good tidings! Let the good times roll! And in deed they are likely to do so in this Pig Year, which highlights abundance, generosity and even extravagance. Ushering in the Chinese New Year, this Aquarian New Moon has the Sun Moon conjunction sextile Pluto. We are likely to find ourselves blueprinting and acting on those situations we feel have true meaning for us and will also provide us the highest quality of our living. We are likely to be looking at alternatives for ourselves and considering where best to put our energies. Today is a good day to consider travel plans, touch base with long distance friends and feel good about our prospects.
* Psychic Sensitivities - Mercury, Uranus, Jupiter, Sun Pisces
Sunday can be a truly interesting day. We could find ourselves opening up to new dimensions, whether those dimensions are our physical reality or whether they are otherworldly. Today is a day to act on spontaneity and to be open to receive. Too often, we over-schedule ourselves and plan our life to the nanosecond. That's too bad for we often miss out on the sweetest part of life --- the magic and mystery of it all. On this Sunday, we have the Moon in Pisces conjunct Mercury and Uranus and square Jupiter. Later in the day, the Sun enters Pisces reinforcing the Stellium of three or more planets in one Sign with the Sun joining, Mercury, Venus and Uranus in the Mutable Water Sign. Today is a day to have faith and to believe. Our emotions can go through real whipsaws since we are like dry sponges taking to water soaking up our surroundings and everyone and everything with which we come into contact. An element of psychic protection would be suggested since we are incredibly open today. Let's guard against our being too open and consequently vulnerable. It is not appropriate for us to close down but to be judicious regarding how we are going to open to receive. We may get some startling insights, decide to act on a whim, and find ourselves in exploration mode. This can be an exhilarating day if we'll keep in mind the saying: 'life's too mysterious, don't take it serious.'
