MARCH 2007

March...our renaissance with a look back over our shoulders...

March begins with five planets in Fire Signs, no planets in an Earth Sign, three planets in an Air Sign and two planets in a Water Sign. One planet is in a Cardinal Sign, five planets are in Fixed Signs and four planets are in Mutable Signs. Eight planets are in Positive Signs, two planets are in Negative Signs.

We start March a little off-key and imbalanced. There is a great deal of Fire and Air swirling around. Our passions may be engaged, our desire to spring ahead our primary focus. With a lack of Earth, our practicality could easily be called into question.

We are still under the influence of the Saturn Neptune opposition that was exact at the end of February but continues to daunt us throughout this month of March. Separating fact from fiction might prove perplexing. We could easily misconstrue situations. Either we might fall into wish fulfillment to believe that all things are possible and take a quixotic journey without checking reality and the facts before we move ahead. Or we might feel ourselves in a catatonic state, assuming that we can only react to the shifting conditions and changing circumstances that seem to keep us hopping.

We also begin the month with a bucket type of chart, a chart pattern that has gone on since the beginning of Winter and continues on into the early Spring. This bucket type of chart has the planets closely configured as in a bowl shape pattern except for one, a singleton, the handle to the bucket which is the retrograde Saturn transiting through Leo.

No matter our plans, no matter our best intentions, we may find that past issues, past connections, past patterns are coming up for us to take stock, inventory our lives and address outstanding matters before moving ahead.

We also begin March with a stellium of three or more planets in one sign with the retrograde Mercury, Mars and Neptune in the Fixed Air Sign of Aquarius. We also start the month with a Grand Trine in the Fire Element with a planet in all three of the Fire Signs with Venus in Aries, the Moon and Saturn in Leo, and Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius.

We may be focused on our future plans, interested in expressing our individuality and emphasizing our autonomy. We also seem to be champing at the bit, feeling the impending bounce and rebirth that Spring offers. A good dose of Spring fever may entice us at times to step out of our daily routine and do something different, something that enlivens us and makes us feel that our lives are truly worth living.

We do have the lack of Earth, so it would be easy for us to get carried away with a sense of exuberance and optimism and believing that we can achieve whatever we set our mind to. In deed we can, if we will maintain a dose of practicality and take things step by step, dotting the i's and crossing the t's as we move along.

I did write that Mercury is retrograde to begin the month. Mercury continues retrograde through the 7th when Mercury turns direct but still is within the shadow of its retrograde motion until the 28th. Already we have seen the impact of miscommunications that a Mercury retrograde often triggers. We saw it with the winter storm in the East and Jet Blue leaving its passengers in planes on the tarmac at JFK in New York for over ten hours. We saw it with the stoppage on Interstate 78 in Pennsylvania where motorists were stuck on the highway for up to twenty-four hours, a devastating situation that Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell blamed on a breakdown in communications between state agencies. Many of us have experienced computer glitches, Internet problems, miscommunications, traffic delays and the like during this Mercury retrograde. And all that was during February.

As that great philosopher Yogi Berra would remind us: "It ain't over 'til it's over". And this Mercury retrograde is not over until late on the 7th, and its influence not finished until the 28th.

Despite the likelihood of frustrations, confusions and walking the balance beam between reality and illusions, this month of March can be an energetic and productive one. We can reflect on our past, attend to outstanding matters and clear the decks in order to take advantage of new areas that we might want to explore and later develop.

A sense of exploration is strong this March. And the more we can taste a little of this and try a little of that, all the while emphasizing the sampling rather than a commitment, this March can be an exciting and enjoyable month.

We do have to keep in mind the two-step, whereby we might go forward only to be pulled back. This back and forth, in actual fact, can be quite healthy this month for it could keep us from diving off the high dive board without having checked to see whether the pool was empty or full.

March is a month to entertain all possibilities, consider our prospects without carving our plans in stone and be open to the vagaries of living life on the earth plane.

March also has two eclipses with the Lunar Eclipse at the time of the Virgo Full Moon on the 3rd, and the Solar Eclipse with the Pisces New Moon on the 18th - 19th.

The Lunar Eclipse on the 3rd is strongly influenced by Uranus and by Jupiter. Change, like the coming of Spring, is bubbling within us. We may be looking to throw off the yoke of past conditioning, to find ways to break free from our self-evaluations and to fly, soar and reach for the sky. We might take a more philosophical attitude to our lives, able to see the crests and waves as part of the pounding surf that tempers us, hones us, and allows us eventually to embrace our own uniqueness and express our own individuality. To get to that point, there are times when we have to face our shadow side, those aspects of ourselves of which we might not even be aware or those characteristics of ourselves that we recognize but try to conceal. Just as a flashlight in the deep of the night dispels the darkness, we too could find ourselves casting light upon our subconscious, upon our past and even upon our present parameters. With a T-Square in Mutable Signs, we may find that our nervous energy is increased and it would be far better for us to consider doing things in spurts of energy, short periods of time, rather than a singularly focused approach. Things dovetail, even if those things seem to be totally disparate situations. And this heightened energy virtually forces us to look with peripheral vision and entertain a broad spectrum rather than viewing from tunnel vision or a narrow focus. We could all find that no matter how much we might control situations, that life has a mind of its own. Now is a time for us to be open to exploration and self-discovery, to allow the universe to shed light on our lives and to be prepared to surf the waves.

On the 7th, Mercury turns direct, ending its three-week cycle of retrograde motion. Although Mercury direct will still be within the shadow of the retrograde until the 28th, we might now have greater clarity to our future goals, our new interests, and our relationships. We may have an epiphany of consciousness, a spiritual awakening, whereby we feel far more deeply the meaning and purpose of our lives. In embracing our own uniqueness, we could also find our relationships to be far stronger.

On the 8th and 9th, Venus trines Jupiter, Venus trines Saturn and Venus sextiles Neptune. With a Grand Trine in the Fire Element, we could be feeling good about ourselves and about what is going on in our lives and our future prospects. We may be at the top of our game but looking at playing a different game or on a different field. Our relationships can be far more enjoyable, possibly because we are not so much looking for other people to fill a void or lack within ourselves or that we need others to mirror us. We could be coming from greater personal strength and greater appreciation of the unique qualities of other people. We are looking at personal best thereby creating win-win situations and not preoccupied with besting other people in a win-lose scenario.

We do need to watch for overconfidence and irrational exuberance. The Sun squares Jupiter on the 9th. We could get caught up in a groundswell of good feelings. Let's not go blindly into the night but rather use our enthusiasm to propel us all the while that we're looking at our options and considering how to get from where we were to where we want to be.

The three Fridays in March of the 9th, 16th and 23rd reinforce the idea of T.G.I.F. [thank goodness it's Friday]. For these Fridays are especially pleasant, days when we can be feeling upbeat, inspired and realize that magic can happen.

On the 16th, we have a kaleidoscope of enjoyable energy configurations. Jupiter trines Saturn, Mercury sextiles Pluto, Venus trines Pluto and Mercury sextiles Venus.

The Jupiter trine Saturn aspect is an aspect that will come and go from between now and the Autumn of next year, 2008. This aspect is in sharp contrast to the Fixed Sign T-Square that we felt from the Autumn of '05 until Thanksgiving Day of '06, when Jupiter and Saturn were square and Jupiter was also squaring Neptune which Saturn was opposing. During that time, we were involved in a turkish taffy pull, engaged in an expansion-contraction / exuberance-restriction tug of war, all the while that we had no idea which end was up. With Jupiter and Saturn now trine, these two contradictory energies are working together. Instead of the push-pull of the past year plus, we now have the ability of grounding our enthusiasms in a structured and methodical approach. We can make things happen. And especially during this month of March through the Spring period, as the Saturn in Leo and the Jupiter in Sagittarius are hit off by the personal planets transiting at different times through the third Fire Sign, the Cardinal Fire sign of Aries. Yes, this March through the Spring is a time of drive, determination, a time of self-realization when we are looking to express our creative efforts in a meaningful and lasting way and to put our best foot forward.

Not only do we have the Jupiter trine Saturn on the 16th. We also have Mercury sextile Pluto, Venus trine Pluto and Mercury sextile Venus. We are in search of the holy grail, the true meaning and purpose of doing our lives. We want nothing less than the passion, depth and intensity of doing life by right action. Our minds are insightful, our thoughts concentrating on the very essence of life's situations. Our interactions with people go far beyond the superficial to the very core of each person's essence, the true depth of meaningful connection.

The 16th is a day to bring it all home, a day when we can transform our lives and take things from the abstract conceptual and turn them into concrete form. Our presentations are strong, our perceptions clear and our image immaculate. We may gain valuable support from powerful allies. This Friday is a primo day to leapfrog to the next level of our lives.

On the 17th, we pick up some Earth, as Venus exits a Sign of its Detriment, Aries where it is not truly comfortable, and enters its own Sign of Taurus. We become more diplomatic, aware of proper decorum and considering personal makeovers of our wardrobe, our homes, the ingredients of our lives.

On the 18th, Mercury re-enters Pisces, a Sign of its Detriment. In so doing, Mercury ends the stellium of three or more planets in one Sign with Mercury having been in Aquarius with Mars and Neptune. In entering Pisces, Mercury creates a stellium in the Mutable Water Sign with Mercury joining Uranus and the Sun. This Pisces Stellium is accentuated with the Solar Eclipse on this same day with the Pisces New Moon. But the stellium in Pisces is short-lived as the Sun ends Winter to begin Spring at the Vernal Equinox on the 20th - 21st.

With Mercury in Pisces, we could find ourselves becoming more idealistic, our spiritual side re-engaged, and our vision of a future pronounced. Our thoughts may be one thing, our expression of our ideas may not always paint a clear picture of what we are thinking. We do have to be careful that we don't become too moody, too emotional or over-sensitive.

This Solar Eclipse on the 18th - 19th could prove a very intense one, for the Sun Moon conjunction in the latter part of Pisces squares Pluto in Sagittarius. Just like the end of Winter brings the end to the astrological year with a new year beginning with the Vernal Equinox, we too may become increasingly aware of the end of our old lives, the releases and eliminations necessary to cross the threshold of our own rebirth into new lives. On a societal level, we can also see endings and new beginnings. Authorities in all realms of society's institutions may come and go. This time, and certainly its influence over the next fortnight and the weeks ahead, can signal major transformations in governments, economies, philosophies and all realms of human nature, and nature itself. This energy can be akin to pulling the curtain back from behind the Wizard of Oz screen and seeing the little man punching the buttons. A stripping away can go on, a process that might not always be comfortable but a procedure that allows us to rid ourselves of the superfluous and get down to the very basics. The process of breaking down old beliefs, patterns and systems allows us then to rebuild from our core, drawing upon the fundamentals, engaging the basics.

This inclination towards a major Spring cleaning of our lives that the Solar Eclipse instills in us may be even more pronounced as the Sun squares Pluto on the 19th, followed by the Vernal Equinox on the 20th - 21st as the Sun enters Aries.

'Out with the old, in with the new' could prove to be the refrain during the latter part of March. If we inventory what is important to us and what no longer holds significance, then we can start stripping away little by little.

With the Sun entering Aries on the 20th - 21st, we should feel a burst of energy. Spring has sprung, and we're ready to race from the starting gates and get on with our Spring projects. We do have to watch that we don't move so quickly that we lose sight of our direction or our itinerary.

A sense of bursting forth from the starting gate is ratcheted up by several Mars configurations on the 22nd, 23rd and 25th. On the 22nd, Mars opposes Saturn. Even though we're rearing to go, we could feel like we've hit the wall, or at least stubbed our toe. If we don't cave into the resistance or delays, then any sense of blockage could prove momentary and be used as a time for reviewing and restructuring. Let's keep in mind that often delays are blessings in disguise since they prevent us from rushing headlong into the night and allow us time to give further thought to what we are doing and how we are doing it.

After Mars opposes Saturn on the 22nd, Mars sextiles Jupiter on the 23rd. We can gain a second wind. Our exuberance is back in gear. This is also that third Friday of the month, all of which have been reconfirming the sense of T.G.I.F. Despite the braking action of the day before, this Friday allows us to get back into gear and full speed ahead. It would be wise for us to use this accordion motion of expansive energy, followed by the contractive force of delays and restrictions, shifting then to enthusiasm and exuberance not to be an extreme metronome motion of major whipsaws back and forth. The more we can maintain a sense of balance and keep the swings to a minimum, the less confusing situations will be and the clearer our intent and our plans of action will be.

The two-step has a rhythm and the more we can become aware of it, the better we shall be at keeping the pace. A sense of pace and moving forward, at times only to backtrack, may seem wasteful energy of starts and stops, but the process does allow a honing and refinement to our actions and prevents us from either extreme of moving too far, too fast or feeling totally blocked and catatonic.

The Mars Neptune conjunction on the 25th offers us the ability to slow it down, take time to reflect, and allow the questions to arise without a firm answer. Even confusion can be a healthy antidote to adamant opinions and narrow mindsets.

While these Mars planetary aspects on the 22nd, 23rd and 25th might have our determination bettering our common sense, it would be wise to move forward judiciously, putting one foot in front of the other, testing the waters and not needing to make definitive, long-term commitments.

The month ends on the 31st with Venus sextile Uranus and Pluto turning retrograde. We could become involved with some interesting people, people who are new and different to our usual crowd. We might also consider a personal makeover, shopping for stylish additions to our wardrobe or accent pieces for our home. We are looking at making major changes to our lives. We want to get rid of those things that no longer serve us. From a Spring cleaning, we then want to incorporate new additions to our lives, to spice up our lives in order for it to reflect that transformations we have gone through on the internal level.

As Pluto turns retrograde, things could be a little explosive. Situations beyond our control might create anxiety. Although these events could be blips on the screen, they don't have to impact us greatly. Yes, March may not go out as a lamb but rather with a bang.

All in all, this month of March can be a time of significant changes. We don't have to do a total makeover or a complete transformation. The more we can see this month as a suspension bridge between old and new, whereby we go back and forth between our past and present parameters all the while investigating possibilities and future prospects, then this month of March can be a highly productive one. We can rid ourselves of the outdated and the outmoded and move into a new world that is far more reflective of whom we are becoming.

March 19th - 25th

This week enters the Spring season at the Vernal Equinox when the Sun enters the Cardinal Fire Sign of Aries. Before we get there, the Sun squares Pluto.

'Out with the old, in with the new' could prove to be the refrain as we begin this week. If we inventory what is important to us and what no longer holds significance, then we can start stripping away little by little.

With the Sun entering Aries, we should feel a burst of energy. Spring has sprung, and we're ready to race from the starting gates and get on with our Spring projects. We do have to watch that we don't move so quickly that we lose sight of our direction or our itinerary.

Toward the end of the week, Mars opposes Saturn. We could feel like we've hit the wall. If we don't cave into the resistance or delays, then any sense of blockage could prove momentary and used as a time for reviewing and restructuring.

After Mars opposes Saturn, Mars sextiles Jupiter. We can gain a second wind. Let's be careful not to ramp things up for Mars conjuncts Neptune over the weekend. Our determination could better our common sense.

This week is a week of great excitement and a thrust into Spring. It would be wise to move forward judiciously, putting one foot in front of the other, testing the waters and not needing to make definitive, long-term commitments.

* Tripping - Sun, Pluto

Monday starts the week with an Aries Moon and the Sun square Pluto. We're coming off of yesterday's Solar Eclipse, but we may find ourselves tripping up, putting one foot forward then one foot back. Yes, we may be doing a two-step on this Monday, and the pace may be fast and furious. We might not feel as though we're operating at peak performance but operating we are. We could rush headlong into certain new activities. We're feeling the approach of Spring, ready to end the winter and prepared to go full-speed ahead. Before we do so, it would be wise for us to do a final winter inventory-taking, clearing away past situations or old matters that might only serve to trip us up. We might be feeling somewhat intense today, champing at the bit, rearing to go. Let's remember that timing is everything. While we want to get on with things, we should consider making sure that there is nothing standing in our way, blocking our forward momentum or holding us back. We could be a little on edge today, uncomfortable in our own skin. As a result, we need to avoid doing any precipitous actions. Today is a day when we might act in extreme fashions, flipping from one side to the other. If we can slow things down and keep in mind the horse and cart, whereby today's horse is tying up loose ends and clearing the decks, then the cart of our new projects can move along like greased wheels in the days ahead.

* Busting Out All Over - Mars, Neptune, Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto, Sun Aries

Tuesday is a day when we're ready to take off like a rocket. Our energies are ramped up severalfold. We have the Aries Moon sextile both Mars and Neptune in Aquarius. Even more significantly, the Aries Moon creates a Lunar Grand Trine in the Fire Element as the Moon trines Saturn in Leo and trines Jupiter and Pluto both in Sagittarius. Later in the day [and early on Wednesday in some time zones], the Sun enters Aries at the Vernal Equinox to begin the Spring season. Yes, Spring is busting out all over. And this Tuesday gives us a good indication of the season. We have a spring in our step, a bounce to our energy, and we're ready to take on the world... and on our terms. Tuesday is a great day to initiate, to start things up. We have the drive and passion to pursue new projects. We're looking at doing things in a more streamlined manner. We have the drive and the passion combined with a focused and systematic approach. This Tuesday ranks up there as a primo day, one of the best. We do have to be certain to take care of the details and the specifics. While the energies today are great for getting going and moving swiftly ahead, we need to make sure that we're not carried away with our enthusiasm and that we are aware of the particulars of our conditions. With our entry into Spring, we can say to our winter frustrations: 'devil, get thee behind me.' We're ready to clear the slate and cross the threshold into a season of exuberance and new beginnings. Happy Spring!

* Personal Makeover - Mercury, Venus

Wednesday's Taurus Moon is ripe for a personal makeover, whether we are addressing our own person, our wardrobe, or our home. We're looking for a Spring cleaning and we could easily find ourselves out shopping buying the necessary accoutrements for our new sense of self. Yes, we're going through a renaissance, a rebirth, and symbolically we're looking to spruce ourselves up. The Taurus Moon sextiles Mercury and conjuncts Venus. We have style and we're likely to be showing it off today. Our presentations can be smooth, our image quite stunning and our social decorum spot-on. Today is a day when we can make things happen. We have a grace, charm and suavity that have us at the top of our game. Now is a time for us to put the improvements to our lives in place. Let's take advantage of Tuesday and Wednesday to start things up, get them up and running, and put ourselves in the right space.

* Screeching Halt - Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Lunar T-Square, Mars, Saturn, Neptune

One of the beauties of life is the rhythm of cycles. Nothing stays the same forever. It's like the ocean's waves with crests and troughs. After two days that could seem close to paradise, we come to Thursday. This is the 22nd, a master number in numerology, but today our mastery may seem to come to naught. This Thursday could put the brakes on our actions. While we might have had smooth sailing the past two days, Thursday may seem as though we have hit the wall. Of this week, this day could prove the most difficult or deep in the trough of our wave movements. Today we have Mars opposed Saturn and we also have the Taurus Moon creating a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon square Saturn in Leo and square Mars and Neptune both in Aquarius. Thursday could have us feeling frustrated as delays and blockages seem to get in our way. Our great plans, our marvelous concepts may seem only beautiful illusions as we deal with some of the mundane realities. We might feel limited or restricted in our actions. Although this 22nd is the 'master builder', we could see loose ends or problems that need to be addressed before we can move ahead. The Moon does sextile Uranus. The more we can be original, innovative and think outside the box, the less likely we shall feel stuck in neutral or even feel like we're going backwards. The key for today is not to feel overwhelmed but rather to consider our options and our alternatives. Keep in mind that we are in a phase of maintaining constant discernment between fact and fiction. Any braking action could prove beneficial for it allows us to reconsider, re-check and review to be certain that we're on the right track and not on some quixotic journey. Thursday may force us to slow it down and go back over things but it does not necessitate a crash and burn scenario.

* Up And Running - Mars, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury

Friday is a significant shift from yesterday. While yesterday we had Mars opposed Saturn, on this Friday Mars sextiles Jupiter. We may feel like we've gotten a second wind. Whatever delays or frustrations dogged us yesterday, we can be free of them today. The key thing is to have addressed any outstanding matters or any unresolved issues before proceeding. If we did so, then this Friday can have us back up and running. We can advance our interests today, broaden our scope and take on more today than the particulars we had to deal with yesterday. Not only do we have Mars sextile Jupiter, but we also have the Moon in Gemini where it sextiles the Sun and squares Mercury. While yesterday might have demanded a singular focus, Friday allows us to deal with numerous things. We may be scurrying around today, looking to expand our activities. If we get caught up in the sense of release and the feeling of easy wheeling, then we could skip over details and neglect specifics. We can certainly juggle a number of things today. In so doing, let's be sure that we're dealing with them fully rather than glossing over them. But our energy is back in full steam and we're getting on with it.

* Helter Skelter - Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Neptune

The thing about playing the xylophone rather than a one note Samba is that we have to keep up the pace and recognize that we're playing many notes, often at the same time. Saturday can be one of those days when the energy is ramped up severalfold. No matter our plans, we might find that we've got more going on than we bargained for. Things have been picking up the pace and us along with it. That would be fine if it weren't for the fact that additional situations could arise demanding our attention. This Saturday has the Gemini Moon creating a Mutable Sign T-Square, as the Moon squares Uranus in Pisces and opposes Jupiter in Sagittarius. We may have a great deal on our plate even to the point of overflowing today. We cannot do a pace today. We've got to pick up speed, possibly even a day-long sprint from one thing to another to yet another and so on. While we're looking to do it all, the fact of the matter is: WE CAN. Yup, believe it or not, if we'll get into high gear, we could juggle very effectively everything that we've planned for this Saturday and then some. While we have the Mutable Sign T-Square ramping up the energies, the Moon also sextiles Saturn and trines both Mars and Neptune. By being adaptable and strategic, we can get it done. While we might feel that we're all over the place on this Saturday, we could discover that we're working with time in a far more subjective manner than an objective manner. We can get more done in a shorter period of time with so much on our plate than we might accomplish when we had only one or two things scheduled for the day. Saturday is also a day when get-togethers with friends could be pleasant and some of the contacts quite surprising. Saturday could prove exhausting but only if we're not up to speed. Otherwise, this can be a whirlwind day, exciting and like the whirling dervishes could get us into some very interesting spaces.

* Homey and Comfy - Mars, Neptune, Pluto, Sun, Mercury, Venus

Saturday night - Sunday morning could have us feeling quite exhausted. The extreme metronome-like motion of Thursday then Saturday could have taken a toll on us. Sunday is a day to sleep in, to catch up on our rest. Getting to bed Saturday night might take longer than we like, and even our initial sleep state might be a little wired. We have the final degrees of the Gemini Moon which squares Pluto. Then in the middle of the night, the Moon moves into its own Sign of Cancer where it squares the Sun, trines Mercury and sextiles Venus. Sunday is a day to catch up on our rest, to take some time to reflect, contemplate and re-create. Spending time at home, feeling the warmth and comfort of our home space would be a good way to nurture ourselves and recharge our batteries from a fairly active week. Mars also conjuncts Neptune. This Mars aspect completes the trilogy of Mars aspects this week: Mars opposed Saturn on Thursday, Mars sextile Jupiter on Friday and Mars conjunct Neptune today. This trilogy could have had us all over the place, both in movement and also in considering our future plans. We may feel this past week that we've been in a whipsaw spun back and forth without fully getting a grip on things nor being able to take the time to recharge our batteries. Sunday offers us that opportunity. This Sunday is a good day to reflect on where we are going. We may feel a little spacey and if we do, we can account for it by the whipsaw of actions and emotions this past week plus. Everyone needs time to rest, catch their breath and enjoy the comforts of their nest. This Sunday is a good day to do so.

LIVING TRANSFORMATIONAL TIMES:
TRENDS FOR 2007 AND BEYOND SEEN THROUGH ASTROLOGY
Like the caterpillar emerging from the chrysalis as the butterfly, we too are now having the opportunity and challenge of shape-shifting. The challenge for each of us in today's world is to re-create ourselves from our early conditioning and from our habit patterns that no longer work for us. The opportunity for each of us in these transformational times is to rediscover our soul, and from this awareness of our essential being to then create the ingredients of a life truly worth living.
Tonight's program explores these transitional times as seen from the prospective of astrology. We shall discover the cultural epochs of the past that have brought us to the present time of humanity's most significant paradigm shift.
Come learn about the ingredients of this new world, the paradigm shift, and how each of us can best navigate these uncharted waters. Will we try to crawl upon the earth scraping our butterfly wings by reason of drawing upon our old caterpillar consciousness? Or will we embrace the unique and unknown, spread our wings, and soar and choose to to fly? The choice is ours. The map of these transformational times is provided by astrology with its observation and charting of the unfolding and development of the energies now and forthcoming.

Spring

This Spring begins with the Vernal Equinox and the Sun’s entrance into the Cardinal Fire Sign of Aries on March 20th-21st. This entry of the Sun into Aries begins the astrological New Year as we end the last cycle of the zodiac wheel and enter a new cycle. Happy New Year!

And this Spring is something to celebrate. At the time of the Vernal Equinox, the chart set up has a kite pattern chart with a Grand Trine in the Fire Element with the Sun and Moon in Aries, Saturn in Leo and Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius. The ‘kite tail’ is the Mars Neptune conjunction in Aquarius which sextiles the planets in Sagittarius and the planets in Aries and opposes the Saturn in Leo.

We can certainly say that this Spring is ‘busting out all over’.

At the time of the Vernal Equinox, we have five planets in Fire Signs, one planet in an Earth Sign, two planets in an Air Sign and two planets in a Water Sign. There are two planets in a Cardinal Sign, four planets in Fixed Signs and four planets in Mutable Signs. Seven planets are in Positive Signs [Fire – Air] and three planets are in Negative Signs [Earth – Water].

We start the Spring with both a kite pattern chart and a bucket pattern chart.

While the kite pattern is a Grand Trine in Fire giving us a sense of expressing our selves and focusing on our interests, this kite also emphasizes the Saturn Neptune conundrum of fact or fiction. Are we dealing with reality or are we seeing life through rose-colored glasses? Added to the mix is the Mars Saturn opposition prodding us to take action, any action, even to the point of being less than judicious in our approach or in our intentions. If we are willing to harness the thrust of energy to ‘get it done’, then we could actually blend very effectively a visionary, intuitive quality with a structured method to achieve our goals. We could blueprint our ambitions in a detailed step-by-step manner.

The bucket pattern chart of the Vernal Equinox has all the planets in a bowl scenario except for the one singleton planet which is the handle to the bucket, and that singleton being Saturn. Although this Spring may feel like the race horse in the starting gate with the gate thrown open wide to gallop ahead, the Saturn influence could also have us looking over our shoulder to see what is behind us. Our past may influence our decisions and impact our present. We might find ourselves having to take a walk down Memory Lane, reflecting on the past, reconnecting with people from the past, or even recreating past scenarios. We might feel compelled to draw upon the ‘tried and true’, perhaps effective once, perhaps no longer relevant or productive for the now.

On the positive level, the Saturn influence can provide a healthy braking motion, preventing us from running headlong forward without monitoring our movement, without maintaining note of where we are going and what we are doing.

To start the Spring, we have an additional braking motion in the T-Square by Sign in the Fixed Signs with the Saturn in Leo square Venus in Taurus and opposed both Mars and Neptune in Aquarius. While we may have this rush of energy and the feeling that we want to accomplish things yesterday, we could experience delays and frustrations in getting things done. Things may take longer than we like. We might question our resources, our capabilities and our finances to do what we want to do. Any delays and frustrations can serve as both an important braking system but also allow us to check and re-check our course without which we could be like ‘wrong way Corrigan’ heading in a direction totally opposite than the one we’ve intended for ourselves.

A curious aspect of this Vernal Equinox is the Noah’s Ark syndrome of pairs. To start Spring we have two planets in Aries [the Sun and Moon], two planets in Pisces [Mercury and Uranus], two planets in Aquarius [Mars and Neptune] and two planets in Sagittarius [Jupiter and Pluto]. Each of these Signs is accentuated and they emphasize a universal understanding or being aware of the macro of the world-at-large and the way we not only fit into that world but how we take our place in the world.

Whatever we initiate in this Spring, and this is the season of initiation, we are likely to find that we are considerate of what is going on around us, the parameters of our conditions, the circumstances of our situation.

This Spring is an exciting time. As we enter into it, we have a good amount of Mars energy around: Mars opposed Saturn on the 22nd, Mars sextile Jupiter on the 23rd and Mars conjunct Neptune on 25th. We could feel like we’re caught in a frenzy of activity, at times stalled, other times at full speed, and other times wondering which way we’re going. While we start the Spring with a burst of energy, we do have to keep in mind the kite tail of the Mars Neptune conjunction opposing Saturn. We can especially feel this during the first week of Spring thanks to these various Mars aspects. As Mars opposes Saturn, we could feel like we’ve hit the wall. If we don’t cave into the resistance or delays, then any sense of blockage could prove momentary and used as a time for reviewing and restructuring. After Mars opposes Saturn, Mars sextiles Jupiter. We can gain a second wind, regain our confidence but we do need to watch for blind optimism. Let’s be careful not to ramp things
up for Mars conjuncts Neptune to end this Mars trilogy. Our determination could better our common sense.

And that is a key aspect for this early Spring period --- not to allow our passions or our desires to blind us to the reality of the situations. Again, we come back to the fine line of reality and fantasy. Again, we have to see whether we are dealing with fact or with fiction.

On the 31st of March, Pluto turns retrograde until the 7th of September. At its station, Pluto is just a little over one degree from entering Capricorn which Pluto will do in early 2008. And this Spring is punctuated by the Sun square Pluto. Authority figures may come increasingly under attack or under the piercing gaze of a skeptical public. We may feel, at times, like the camel trying to squeeze through the eye of a needle. We are going through a birthing process, but with every birthing there is a dying to the old.

Whenever Pluto turns from direct to retrograde motion, or from retrograde to direct motion, there is a tendency for a dramatic release to occur. Sometimes this takes the form of geophysical phenomena of an earthquake or volcanic eruption. Sometimes it takes the form of explosions, bombings and violent actings-out. The purpose of the retrograde Pluto is for us to internalize some of the transformations that we are all going through, to reflect on the dramatic, even if only subtle, changes occurring in our lives. This whole transit of Pluto through Sagittarius has been one of defining our ‘quality of life’, what we consider the essential characteristics of our lives, and seeking to make our lives more meaningful and with greater purpose. Each of us is going through our own personal metamorphosis. And the metamorphosis, transformation and shapeshifting we are going through is akin to the caterpillar going through the chrysalis and emerging as a butterfly. During the Pluto retrograde, we can reflect, review and reaffirm the transformations we are going through.

Also on the 31st, Venus sextiles Uranus. We could run into some interesting people. Our appetite is whetted for the new and the different. We might also consider a personal makeover, shopping for stylish additions to our wardrobe or accent pieces for our home.

On April 1st, we have to watch for playing the Fool. Mercury conjuncts Uranus. While insights can be strong, communications could go awry. Computer glitches, travel problems and misunderstandings might occur. This energy ranks up there as a cautionary flag regarding air travel. I avoid flying during Mercury Uranus conjunctions, squares or oppositions. By thinking outside the box, we could arrive at significant answers to any perplexing problems.

The Libra Full Moon on the 1st – 2nd accents our relationships as Venus squares Saturn. Our personal needs may conflict with the interests of others, and we do have to watch that we're not drawing lines in the sand or harping on old slights. We could be somewhat adamant in our positioning, losing compromise for our own personal wants and desires.

On the 4th, Mercury squares Jupiter, Venus squares Neptune and Mars sextiles Pluto. Let's not get carried away with wishful thinking or assuming that we can bend things to our will. It is important to go slow, carefully consider what is going on and not buy into the appearance without evaluating the true reality of the situation.

On the 5th, Jupiter turns retrograde for the next four months. We could easily get carried away with a sense of self-importance and casual confidence. Some people may even fall into the pitfall of being a ‘legend in their own mind’. There could be a tendency to cut corners, seek the easy way out and not always be totally upfront and honest about our feelings or our dealings.

On the 6th, Mars enters Pisces, creating a stellium of three or more planets in one Sign, as Mars joins Uranus and Mercury. We could get caught up in a frenzy of activity and our emotions could influence our thinking. This stellium is brief however, with Mercury leaving Pisces and entering Aries on the 10th.

The 7th and Easter Sunday of the 8th are quite pleasant, as Mercury sextiles Venus and the Sun trines Saturn. We can talk through relationship issues that may have been confusing recently and we can establish firm foundations by which to move our interests forward. Everyone is likely to be putting on their best for this weekend and there would seem to be some enjoyable get-togethers with family and friends.

We continue with a 'feelgood' attitude as the Sun trines Jupiter on the 9th. We're optimistic, confident and looking to broaden our reach. The Sun Saturn trine on the 8th and Sun Jupiter trine on the 9th reinforces the Spring’s Grand Trine in the Fire Element with the Sun in Aries trining Saturn in Leo and trining Jupiter in Sagittarius. Yes, we’re likely to be feeling upbeat and able to put our greatest desires into action.

Where a problem could arise is that we may be caught up in our exuberance and not look at the fine print. On the 10th, Mercury squares Pluto. We could easily skip over details. And we don't want to hear from any parade rainers. We might easily buy into our illusions, our hopes and wishes. We might feel the naysayers to be jealous or seeking company for their misery. That's not for us.

After squaring Pluto, Mercury enters Aries, also on the 10th. We want what we want and we're willing to put our interests first and foremost.

On the 11th, the Sun sextiles Neptune. We can become slightly delusional, entranced by wish fulfillment and easily be swayed by what we want to occur.

Also on the 11th, Venus enters Gemini. We're feeling light and breezy. Let's 'live for the moment' may be our motto during much of this time. With Venus leaving Taurus, we've lost our connection to the Earth element. Our practicality could prove minimal. We have a great deal of Fire, a lot of drive, passion and desire. But without the Earth we may have difficulty putting our energy into solid application.

On the 17th, the Aries New Moon trines Pluto. We're feeling good and we're able to see the distant horizon. We know where we're going and we have the drive and the desire to get there.

On the 19th, the Sun trines Pluto just as Saturn ends its four and a half month retrograde cycle. With Saturn direct, we could find that recent delays and obstacles are being removed. We may feel like we can start to make forward progress. Saturn retrograde which often occurs during the winter season is like winter itself. More is going on internally than on the external level. Saturn turning direct is like the bursting forth of Spring, more energy is externalized. There is greater movement and expression.

On the 20th, we regain some Earth, as the Sun enters the Fixed Earth Sign of Taurus. Our passions can now be made more manifest, for we're looking at taking our dreams and bringing them into form. Now is a time for us to plant the seeds of those projects we want to bring to fruition.

On the 21st, Mercury in Aries trines Saturn in Leo and Mercury trines Jupiter in Sagittarius triggering the Grand Trine in the Fire Element which is a major focus of our Spring season. We can expand our operations in a methodical, creative and structured manner. Now is a time when we can engage brain and brawn. e have the ingenuity, the passion and the energy to be highly effective. We're working smarter not harder. We can get more done with less expenditure of energy.

On the 23rd, Mercury sextiles Neptune. Our intuitive sense is strong and we can present our ideas in an appealing, even seductive manner. Not everyone may be appreciative, for we also have Venus square Mars on the 23rd. Someone might feel uneasy about us and try to block our progress. Our minds are sharp, but our interactions with others could prove problematic.

This dance between our agile, visionary, penetrating minds and our clumsy, awkward and even dysfunctional relationships continues on at this time.

For on the 26th, Mercury trines Pluto and Venus squares Uranus. Our mind is penetrating. We can dispel any arguments against our viewpoint and win adherents to our side both by the force of our presentation and the incisiveness of our case. Unexpected situations might arise in our relationships. People may be acting like weathervanes, whichever way the wind blows.

On the 27th, Mercury enters Taurus. We may be less taken with ourselves and more considerate of other people. Our contacts with others seem to improve, both as a result of a change in our attitude and because we're more attentive to other people's needs. Venus sextiles Saturn on the 27th and then Venus opposes Jupiter on the 28th. By creating win-win situations, we can gain adherents to our cause and impress people with our determination.

On the 29th, Mars conjuncts Uranus. Storm systems could be intense. We need to be careful of rash actions and possible accidents. The month of April ends on the 30th with Mars square Jupiter and Venus trine Neptune. We may want to stretch our wings and go in new directions, feeling supported by a soulmate connection. Let’s just be careful that we don’t do a Daedalus play trying to fly too close to the sun.

In the beginning of May, on the 2nd, we have the Scorpio Full Moon and with it a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Scorpio Moon opposed both the Sun and Mercury in Taurus and by Sign square to Saturn in Leo. We may consider where we can cut the dross and eliminate the excess in our commitments and obligations. Spring cleaning is in order by clearing out the stuff, situations and even people that no longer serve us.

On the 5th, Mercury sextiles Uranus and Mercury squares Saturn. Thoughts of how we can do things more expeditiously can keep us from being ensnared in outdated methods. The 'tried and true' may have been tried but could no longer be true or effective in our today's environment.

On the 6th, Jupiter trines Saturn while Venus opposes Pluto. We can devise the ways to broaden our scope
and create a format to expand into activities that have greater meaning for us. We do have to watch our relationships. In our eagerness to clean house, we could find ourselves throwing the baby out with the bath water. Although we may feel as if we were getting our act together, extremes need to be avoided for we might get carried away in getting rid of things only to realize that some of the things gotten rid of still have meaning and purpose for us.

On the 7th, Mercury squares Neptune. We may be somewhat dazed, a little confused. We need to take things with a grain of salt and not personalize them, for there may be misunderstandings and miscommunications. The more we can maintain clarity amidst the turbulence, the less we'll get entangled in sticky situations.

We have a trilogy of Sun aspects during this time with the Sun sextile Uranus, on the 8th, the Sun square Saturn on the 9th and the Sun square Neptune on the 12th. While we want to be free to do our own thing, we could find our responsibilities get in the way. In fact, our commitments may provide a necessary braking pattern keeping us from rushing headlong into an abyss. We may feel a little out of sorts, wondering whether we’re coming or going. The lack of solidity and terra firma could prove a good thing, for it may prevent us from jumping at things before considering them in depth.

With Mercury sextile Mars on the 8th and Jupiter square Uranus on the 10th, we might try to fast forward without considering our itinerary, our direction or our means.

Also on the 8th, Venus enters Cancer followed by Mercury moving into its own Sign of Gemini on the 11th. Pampering ourselves and entertaining many different thoughts could help us from leaping brashly ahead. Testing the waters and trying different things out would be far wiser now than a long-term, definitive commitment that appears sound, reasonable and a good focus for us from first impression but might conceal some real pitfalls once we get seriously involved. Moderation during this time would be advised, but we're more likely to be operating in fits of starts and stops.

Certainly moderation would seem to be out the window on the 13th when Mars squares Pluto, a highly combustible, potentially explosive combination. Eruptions are likely so it would be best to count to ten before any reaction. People are likely to be acting out, pushing the envelope and adamant in their position. Not an energy configuration for compromise, so let’s keep in mind the wisdom of picking our battles and not engaging every single adversarial situation.

On the 15th, Mars moves into its own Sign of Aries giving greater emphasis to our drive and self-assertiveness. With a passionate desire to take the lead in our lives, we come to the Taurus New Moon on the 16th. We can begin to create the structure and to fashion the means to achieve our aims. We do have to review our methods, adapting to changing variables and finetuning our procedures as we go along. Our enthusiasm may know no bounds and we need to be careful not to re-create past situations and not to accept things at face value. Checking and testing to be certain that we're on the right track are key this week.

We may be doing a great deal of juggling and we can handle various things, as long as we don't skip over details. While we might want to go as quickly as possible, haste could make waste and force us to go back over and redo.

From the 20th through the 27th, we have a great deal of Mercury energy jumping around.

On the 20th, Mercury opposes Jupiter and Mercury squares Uranus. Our self-confidence can get the better of us and we may be blindsided by unexpected situations. Not my favorite time to fly, and it would be wise to keep a close eye on the specifics and not get overwhelmed by a barrage of stimuli.

On the 21st, the Sun moves into Mercury-ruled Gemini along with Mercury sextile Saturn on the 21st, Mercury trine Neptune on the 23rd and then Mercury opposed Pluto on the 27th before Mercury exits its own Sign of Gemini and enters Cancer on the 28th.

We may be doing several things at once during this highly charged Mercury period. With a desire to add more things to our daily mix, we could come up with stimulating and creative ways to handle the various activities of our lives. Not only can we address our daily activities, but we can also fantasize about what we want to do and where we want to go. Our mind awhirl entertaining various interests, we could add on more and more to our ‘to do’ list. We can be, and we may need to be, a master juggler. If we don't keep up the pace, we might find that we have overloaded ourselves and taken on too much.

Amidst all the Mercury flurry, Venus trines Uranus on the 25th. Not content to be competent in our routine matters, we could be looking at springtime projects around our home, enlisting redecoration or renovation projects to our living space. We may also find ourselves infatuated by situations and people who are not usually part of our lives. Feeling adept at juggling the activities of our lives, we could add on even more embracing the idea that variety is the spice of life.

The month of May ends with the Sagittarius Full Moon. We have a greater ability to sift through the various activities we’ve gotten involved with and to focus on those that especially have meaning for us. We are looking for passion not distraction. We only want those things that serve a purpose in our lives.

In the early part of June, our sense of enthusiasm could lead us to the point of irrational exuberance. Grandiose extremes could be in style, as people seek to put their best foot forward and one-up each other, with everyone elbowing to be in the center ring.

On the 4th, Mars trines Jupiter followed on the 5th by the Sun opposing Jupiter, egging us on to do more and convincing us that we are invincible. Also on the 5th, Venus moves into Leo. We may find that our relationships are serving as a stage on which we can perform as we seek to be in the spotlight.

On the 9th, the Sun squares Uranus. We want to be free, to do our own thing and express our individuality. But at what cost? Unexpected situations can create twists and turns that demand we be nimble and quick by being in the moment and dealing with the spontaneous as things come up.

During mid-June, we have to be careful not to allow our passion, our drive and our desires to get the better of us. We are influenced by the Fire Grand Trine with Mars in Aries already having trined Jupiter back on the 4th, now trining the third point of our Grand Trine by the Mars trine Saturn on the 11th. With the Sun sextile Mars and Sun sextile Saturn on the 11th, we can focus our energies and create a plan for the realization of our goals. But Neptune can get in the way, as the Sun trines Neptune and Mars sextiles Neptune on the 13th. Suddenly, our plans can go from realistic concepts to hoped-for fantasies by embellishing and adding on to them. We could get swept up in possibilities and prospects. We might leap ahead envisioning what could be and leaving behind what really is.

The potential for confusion can ratchet up with the Gemini New Moon on the 14th offering a broad spectrum of options. Some alternatives might merely be seeking change for the sake of change. This Gemini New Moon occurs as Gemini-ruling Mercury is stationary, turning retrograde on the 15th for the next three weeks. Our thoughts and communications can get fuzzy. Before we make any significant decisions, let’s check the details, review the matter and be certain before committing. Instead of adding on more activities, we might consider those involvements that truly interest us contrasted to those situations that are merely distractions. A Spring cleaning to rid ourselves of the superfluous could be called for.

The Spring draws to a close, but before it does Venus trines Jupiter as the Sun opposes Pluto on the 19th. We may feel as though our soul has been laid bare, and in compensation we may look to live for the day. Any discomfort within ourselves is likely to find expression in extravagance. We could spend too much, eat too much, even enjoy ourselves too much. We are being asked to engage our transformation, the shapeshifting of transitioning from the caterpillar into the butterfly. The process may not always seem comfortable and we could mask it by focusing on having a good time, no matter the expense.

Spring is a time of initiation, of new beginnings. And this Spring allows us to emphasize our individuality and to focus on our self-expression. We shall do the dance between appearance and reality, fact and fiction. In so doing, we have the opportunity of honing, refining and transforming ourselves.

Spring 2007... busting out all over...

March 26, 2007

March 26th - April 1st

After an active and fairly hectic ten days, this last week of March begins on a quieter note. Our energy may not be as strong or charged as it has been. We might want to take some downtime, spending time around our home, resting and catching a breath.

Mid-week, we have more energy. We could be looking at putting our best foot forward, tend to our responsibilities and enjoy social interactions with others.

Toward the end of the week is a good time to focus on the details of our daily routine and our new projects. Anything that we’ve begun recently, we might want to check to be certain that things are running smoothly and that we have accounted for the particulars.

Over the weekend, we could run into some interesting people and have some startling insights.

Venus sextiles Uranus and our appetite whetted for the new and the different. We might also consider a personal makeover, shopping for stylish additions to our wardrobe or accent pieces for our home.

Pluto turns retrograde at the end of the month. Things could be a little explosive. Situations beyond our control might create anxiety. Although these events could be blips on the screen, they don’t have to impact us greatly.

To end the week, Mercury conjuncts Uranus. Insights can be strong. By thinking outside the box, we could arrive at significant answers to any perplexing problems.

This week is largely a pleasant one and a week when we can give time to our selves, our home, our creative pursuits and our daily routine... with a pinch of panache thrown in.

Monday, the 26th --- Changing Places --- Uranus. Monday has the Cancer Moon trine Uranus. We may find ourselves moving things around our home, making changes, even creating a personal makeover or doing a Spring cleaning. This Monday is a good day for us to try something new, engage in something different from our norm. Interesting situations could arise and the more we can be adaptable, the more we can take advantage of any unexpected situations that might arise. We could also consider streamlining our operations, seeing how we can be more effective with less expenditure of energy. We want to create some personal time, not feel that we’re under the gun of our schedule but rather that we have moments when we can just kick back and do whatever we please. After the intensity of the past few days, this Monday is one when we might just allow calls to go unanswered picked up by our voicemail and might allow other people’s demands to go begging for attention. Today is a day to act in a spontaneous manner, to be in the moment and enjoy the magic of the universe.

Tuesday, the 27th --- Slow in Getting Going. Tuesday has no planetary aspects. The Moon is Void-of-Course making no aspects to the planets in the early part of the day as the Moon finishes its transit of its own Sign of Cancer. The Moon then moves into Leo. Our energies can shift dramatically. From a laid-back, even reactive, disposition, we can switch into an energized phase looking for fun and enjoyable ways to express ourselves. Tuesday would be a good day to finish up tasks around our home and then consider some recreational pursuit later in the day. A nice meal out, taking in a concert, catching a flick or other pleasurable activities might be the order of the latter part of this Tuesday. We don’t always have to be at sprint pace. Even when we want to, there are times when the universe suggests we slow down. It’s like the natural cycles of tidal action with its ebbs and flows. This Tuesday starts more in an ebb phase and then shifts into a flow.

Wednesday, the 28th --- tripped up --- Sun, Venus, Saturn. Wednesday has the Leo Moon trine the Sun in Aries, square Venus in Taurus and conjunct Saturn. We may have the desire to focus on our projects and concentrate on what we want. Nice concept, but this Wednesday could trip us up thanks to the Venus square and Saturn dampener. Our resources might be limited and we could experience past obligations demanding our time and our attention. This Wednesday may start with us ready to go full thrust but then we could stumble and even fall. Today is a day to channel our energies, make our plans and not rush forward without considering the conditions and the tools available to us. If we race ahead assuming that we can accomplish whatever we want with no obstacles in the way, we might find ourselves racing straight ahead into a wall. Our emotions could then take a nosedive. Let’s not go there. No matter how easy the sledding might seem at the beginning of the day, it would be wise for us to anticipate delays or some frustrations along the way. Wednesday could be a walk in the park, as long as we keep aware for any brambles that might entangle us along the way.

Thursday, the 29th --- Leaping into the Void --- Jupiter, Neptune, Mars, Pluto. Thursday is one of those days, similar to Wednesday, when we might feel on a see-saw of emotions. On Thursday the Leo Moon trines both Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius and opposes both Mars and Neptune in Aquarius. We could feel like at the top of our game, with nothing standing in our way. We may feel exuberant, expansive, optimistic and confident of our future. Only problem is the question as to whether we are seeing true reality or looking at our world through rose-colored glasses. We could easily buy into wish fulfillment today. Once we accept something to be true, we could put our all and then some into the situation. Thursday is a day to get a hold on any upbeat, even delirious, attitude. We can certainly plan our future, consider how to broaden our scope and give thought to what we want to do. The actual action might need a little restraint and strategizing. It would also be wise to take anything we hear with a grain of salt. People may play to our Achilles heel and paint a wonderful picture of the world as it could be. Are we dealing with someone coming from sincerity and integrity? Or are we involved with a huckster, the trickster able to present wonderful images without nothing to back them up. This Thursday we need to keep asking ourselves: is it real or is it memorex? Fact or fiction? Like seeing the wonderful images of the wizard of oz screen, it is essential that we pull back the curtain, see the little guy punching the buttons, and maintain an eye on true reality today.

Friday, the 30th --- Wake Up To Reality. If we have bought into illusions through a sense of exuberance and optimism over the past few days, Friday can provide a wake-up call. Although there are no aspects today, the Moon in Virgo will assist us in looking at the details and focusing on the specifics. Today is a good day to weigh the events and prospects of recent days on the scales of analytical and reasoned judgment. We can attend to the particulars of our lives today. If we have gone off on a mind-blowing high the past few days, today we can get our feet back on the ground and see things with our rose-colored glasses removed. We can accomplish a great deal today, play catch up with things that we might have let slide, and be more responsible to the daily routine off our lives. Not an exciting day perhaps, and the excitement may have to wait until tomorrow.

Saturday, the 31st --- Surprise, Surprise --- Venus, Uranus, Mercury, Jupiter, Pluto retrograde. Saturday has some powerful energies. They can be like a powder keg or they can be serendipitous get-togethers. It might even turn out that we have a combination of both. Saturday has the Virgo Moon opposing both Mercury and Uranus in Pisces. Tomorrow we shall have the Mercury Uranus conjunction. We also have the Moon trine Uranus and Venus sextile Uranus. In addition, the Virgo Moon creates a Mutable Sign T-Square by opposing Mercury and Uranus and also squaring Jupiter. Added to the mix, we have the combustibility of Pluto turning direction, going from direct motion to retrograde motion. This Saturday is a day for us to keep our wits about us. We might want to recite as an affirmation the Rudyard Kipling poem “If” that affirms our maturity by being able to keep our head while the world is spinning crazily around us. Although there are often explosive situations when Pluto is turning direction, this day can be a patch quilt of the good, the bad and the ugly. One thing to keep in mind is that we may be operating from a high level of energy, anxiety perhaps, but certainly our nerves are turned up and even possibly frayed. If we expect this day to go according to plan, then we could be sorely disappointed. Unexpected meetings can be thrilling and great fun. We do have to check things out before assuming that we have a true bead on what is going on. The more we juggle today, and juggle things we weren’t even anticipating, the more in tune with the energies of this day we’ll be. Yes, this is a day of surprise, surprise.

Sunday, the 1st --- Who’s the Fool? --- Mercury, Uranus, Pluto. Sunday is April 1st, aka as April Fool’s Day. We could be fooled or we could also approach the level of genius. Today we have Mercury conjunct Uranus. Insights and unexpected communications could be coming aplenty today. We can have those flashes of revelation when we suddenly get the Archimedes ‘Eureka’ moment and realize certain ah-has about our lives or about problems that have been perplexing. The Virgo Moon does square Pluto so it will be important that we don’t get caught up in an emotional whirlwind, especially in light of the fact that Pluto has just turned retrograde. We could be a little critical [a little?!], even hypercritical. We may be champing at the bit wanting to be free of our day-in, day-out existence. This Sunday is a good day to be open to the spontaneous, to act on the spur-of-the-moment and not to feel that we have been painted into a corner. Later in the day, the Moon leaves Virgo and comes into Libra. We may be seeing things from a far more pleasant perspective and looking for companionship with that special someone.

March 31, 2007

April

April begins with four planets in Fire Signs, two planets in Earth Signs, two planets in an Air Sign and two planets in a Water Sign.
One planet is in a Cardinal Sign, four planets are in Fixed Signs and five planets are in Mutable Signs. Six planets are in Positive Signs, four planets are in Negative Signs.

We have a Grand Trine by Sign in the Fire Signs with the Sun in Aries, Saturn in Leo and Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius. We also have by Sign two T-Squares; one in the Fixed Signs and the other in the Mutable Signs. The Fixed Sign T-Square has the Saturn Neptune opposition that keeps on keeping on with both now squared by Venus in Taurus. The Mutable Sign T-Square has the Moon in Virgo opposed Mercury and Uranus in Pisces with both Signs squared by the Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius.

We may start the month with a sense of ‘hurry up and wait’. A waiting attitude could also prove a blessing in disguise, for we begin the month with Mercury conjunct Uranus. If we can get out of our own way and be open to receive, we may gain some valuable insights, become aware of surprising opportunities and be able to take advantage of the magic of the moment. The key element is getting out of our own way. Habit patterns and the definitions of ‘who’ we have been could trip us up. We need to keep in mind the truth to the wise saying that god, the universe, our destiny have a far greater plan for us than we could ever imagine for ourselves.

We start the month open to the magic of the unexpected, those synchronistic happenings when we suspend our normal daily reality and are privy to mysterious, magical, unexpected occurrences. If we will let go of our opinions, our expectations and our judgments regarding how reality works, then we can cross the threshold into a dimension of wonderful possibilities. If we will look, we will see. If we will listen, we will hear. If we will be open, we will receive.

We do have to watch that our mind isn’t racing a mile a minute and that the realm of possibilities doesn’t dive us into a nightmarish fantasy of delusions. Either we can soar with the eagles, or plummet to the depths. Our visionary sense may be strong, but we also have to realize that bringing the revelations down to this earth plane may be a little more difficult. We could experience computer glitches, travel problems and miscommunications.

We could go off into a world of our own, a situation that could aggravate our relationships especially with the Libra Full Moon on the 2nd at a time when Venus squares Saturn. People may not ‘get’ us. Everyone may be seeking to balance their personal interests with the demands of their circle of special friends. Past issues could resurface like a sticking point that prevents us from moving forward. This sense of confusion in our interactions could continue during much of this early April period.

On one hand, we want to do our own thing, express our uniqueness and not be limited or restricted by other people’s opinions. Yet, no one can truly be an island unto themselves and the balancing act between our personal needs and the needs of others may be engaged.

The mid-part of the first week of April has Venus square Saturn, Mercury square Jupiter and Mars sextile Pluto. Jupiter also turns retrograde for the next four months. We could feel a push-pull between expanding our own scope, driven by those situations that impassion us, yet enticed and perplexed by appearances that may not be realities. The likelihood of our desires leading us down a garden path in early April cannot be discounted. Even if we start on a quixotic journey, and even to the point of tilting at windmills, we are determined and committed to realizing our dreams.

On the 6th, Mars leaves Aquarius to enter Pisces, briefly creating a stellium of three or more planets in Pisces as Mars joins Uranus and Mercury in the Mutable Water Sign before Mercury leaves Pisces ending the stellium and enters Aries on the 10th. The concept of ‘April showers bring May flowers’ might be pronounced toward the end of the month when Mars conjuncts Uranus on the 29th.

Although emotional issues may hold sway and storm systems pack a wallop of winds and rain, relationships and our self-determination seem better balanced as Mercury sextiles Venus on the 7th and the Fire Grand Trine is engaged by the Sun in Aries trining Saturn in Leo on the 8th and trining Jupiter in Sagittarius on the 9th. We can talk things out, offer heart to heart communications, and express our deepest needs.

This Grand Trine occurs at the time of Christianity’s sacred holy day of Easter, a day celebrating the resurrection and ascension of Jesus who was the Christ. This sacred Christian symbology is also seen in mythology with the bird known as the Phoenix on its funereal pyre rising from its ashes to soar ever higher.

With this Fire Grand Trine, we may find ourselves going through our own resurrection and ascension. We can engage our true vitality, our soulful energy. With drive and passion we can embrace both our dreams and our inner being to create the necessary garden in which to plant our seed. We can create the base from which we too can fly and soar and realize our greatest goals.

The question of clarity of method may come up, for we may be driven more by the force of our will than the well-considered specifics of a practical approach. Mercury squares Pluto on the 10th just before Mercury exits Pisces to enter Aries. Our thoughts may be strong and opinionated. Our ideas might be based more upon wish fulfillment and visionary zeal rather than the particulars and the details. It would be wise for us to test the waters before diving headlong into the pool.

On the 11th, the Sun sextiles Neptune. We may feel destiny calling us, even to the point of feeling blessed, invincible and divinely directed. The 11th also has Venus leaving its own sign of Taurus and entering Mercury-ruled Gemini. With Venus leaving Taurus, we've lost our connection to the Earth element. Our practicality could prove minimal. Social interactions and connections with those who appreciate us could have us going from place to place.

The mid-part of April continues to add fuel to our fire. The Aries New Moon on the 17th has the Sun Moon conjunction trine Pluto in Sagittarius. The 19th has the Sun trine Pluto and Saturn in Leo ending its four and a half month long retrograde cycle and turning direct. With Saturn direct, we could find that recent delays and obstacles are being removed. We may feel like we can start to make forward progress.

All this added fiery nature is ratcheted up by the Mercury in Aries triggering the Fire Grand Trine as Mercury trines Saturn in Leo and trines Jupiter in Sagittarius on the 21st. We may certainly be feeling energetic and wanting to take the world by storm, putting our imprint on everything we do. We could feel as though there can be no stopping us now. Our desire is to stretch beyond our normal limitations and to realize our personal best. Now is a time when we can engage brain and brawn. We have the ingenuity, the passion and the energy to be highly effective. We're working smarter not harder. We can get more done with less expenditure of energy.

With our determined sense of self and the strength of our will, we can take our intentions and put them into action. The Sun moves into Taurus on the 20th providing a vessel for our Fire. We pick up some Earth as the Sun enters the Fixed Earth Sign of Taurus. Our passions can now be made manifest, for we're looking at taking our dreams and bringing them into form. We can find the venues and the formats by which we can make our mark. We can work from our core and put down the base camp from which to achieve our goals.

The latter part of April could prove dicey. We may feel that suddenly the smooth sailing of earlier in the month has turned into variable winds with the need for us to tack back and forth in order to make headway. If we will keep our wits about us, we can maintain an even keel.

Relationships could be part of the whipsaw. With Venus in Gemini, we’re looking for brief encounters that are lively, sparkling but not necessarily consistent. And we are likely to find them with caroming Venus aspects as Venus squares Mars on the 23rd, squares Uranus on the 26th, sextiles Saturn on the 27th, opposes Jupiter on the 28th and finally trines Neptune on the 30th.

Relationships may provide us with ups and downs, strange encounters and a parade of characters before we find what we’re looking for. Whether we are dating or involved in a committed relationship, we may find our partner[s] to provide a broad spectrum of emotions, actions and characterizations. The only constant in our relationships during this end of April may be change.

The best way for us to navigate the swings in relationships is to maintain our head about us. The head must rule the heart, otherwise we could find ourselves being tossed and turned by the vagaries of emotions in our social interactions.

Fortunately, Mercury sextiles Neptune on the 23rd and Mercury trines Pluto on the 26th. Our intuitive sense may be strong and our mind piercing, able to penetrate the image to get to the true substance of any situation, or person. We can present our ideas in an appealing, even seductive manner. We could dispel any arguments against our viewpoint and win adherents to our side both by the force of our presentation and the incisiveness of our case.

Mercury enters Taurus on the 27th, contributing to the Earth element and providing greater practicality. We may be less taken with ourselves and more considerate of other people. Our contacts with others seem to improve, both as a result of a change in our attitude and because we're more attentive to other people's needs. By creating win-win situations, we can gain adherents to our cause and impress people with our determination.

The month ends with Mars conjunct Uranus on the 29th and Mars square Jupiter on the 30th. Energetic releases could be swift, intense and staccato-like. The energy could easily get away from us. We need to be careful and avoid rash actions. Accidents could occur and some may push the envelope with crazy-making actions. Like a burst of energy, things can erupt, boil over and blast forth.

This month of April can be an exciting and productive month. We may feel compelled to do our own thing, find new ways of expressing ourselves and begin to put down the roots of new endeavors. If we can decipher the conditions and focus our intentions, this month could prove especially productive when we can accomplish more than we might ever have anticipated.

April... hurry up and wait... for the magic of the moment...
